Papers are full of it nowadays, not much reporting being done, just stories on what people believe is happening.

There are still some good reporters out there, the problem is you have to search through mud to find the gold. Doesn't help that Google puts them far down the list. It seems opinions earn more money than facts these days.

And everything is syndicated, with just a few players in the media market so they have the lion share of the papers and such.

Who's paying for reporters, when people don't pay for news, cause you can get it for free from facebook?

 

Same reason for more opinions, reporting takes time = money to investigate. Whereas anyone can share an opinion at much lower cost.
