Cruise cash

I know that with cruise cash you use it or loose it while on your cruise. What happens if you buy cruise cash and then something happens and you need to cancel your cruise. Do they refund your cruise cash money? Has that happened to anyone? Thanks

And just remember that 'use it or lose it' is a misnomer... if you use cruise cash and have some left at the end of your cruise, just add it to your casino account, play a few times on the slot machine then cash out. We do it all the time.

This is my plan but I think the odds of me having Cruise Cash left over is worse than the slot machine odds!

Right, Cruise Cash is a marketing program designed to make sure people spend a certain amount of money on the ship. (Although I plan some as a convenient way to partially fund our sail and sail account and giving a gift to my family since Carnival sends to note telling them they have a gift.)

I can see cruise cash being used a s gift to people going on a cruise.  Other than that it is worthless to me.  I either use cash or discounted gift cards and add it while onboard.  I never understood loading up on cruise cash and then needing to do the casino trick to get my cash back.  Add cash as you need it (or credit card) and you are goo to go

I agree with you that I normally always just add cash to my account as needed.  However, I signed up for a new credit card with a lucrative signup bonus after spending a certain amount......Using cruise cash was an easy way for me to spend money immediately on something I knew I would use ASAP in order to satisfy the spend requirement.  But, I am sure my situation is unique compared to most.

I also use Carnival gift cards, but I use some in advance for purchases from the Fun Shops, like a case of water, or the occasional gift for my family. But the problem is I'd rather not have left over Carnival gift cards since I never know from one cruise to the next when my next cruise will be (we booked our Thanksgiving 2020 cruise because our June Vista cruise gave us a future cruise credit, otherwise we probably wouldn't be cruising until we move back to Florida).

So when I get the discounted gift cards I just apply them all to my S&S account when I board, and if I have any $$$ remaining at the end of the cruise I just cash it out.

I also use discounted gift cards but used $200.00 to buy cruise cash so I would not have to stand in line on the first day to add them to my account.  During the cruise, we had to add some more to the account and had so money left over so we had Carnival send us another gift card after the cruise. (This only took two days after the cruise ended.)

I agree but I but it should work well for me this time. I applied for the Carnival credit card when I booked the cruise and received the $200 statement credit on the deposits. We are taking our daughter, SIL and grandson so two cabins. Adding up what we still owe plus shore excursions and Cheers I will need another $200 to $300 in fun points for the $200 Cruise Cash reward. So I will purchase Cruise Cash in that amount which will also qualify me for the $200 CC Reward or Gift Card.

With the kids and 7 year old grandson I am sure I will have no problem getting my onboard account over $500. We’ll have Cheers but we sail out of Galveston so I will be purchasing two or three rounds the first day. First cruise in 12 years plus very first cruise for our grandson, the Vista, Easter Week 2020, can’t wait!
