RedwingHockeyFan Posted September 11, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2019 I think it depends on the soda. Most of the standard stuff they mix drinks with comes out of the soda gun.
kapcruiser Posted September 11, 2019 Author #4 Share Posted September 11, 2019 I’m hoping I can ask bartender to open a can of soda and pour in drink.
smplybcause Posted September 11, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 11, 2019 I've only seen them open a can if it's a soda that's not in the gun.
cruisinsc1 Posted September 11, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 11, 2019 Usually it's from the soda gun on the bar. Probably depends on which bar.
FLAHAM Posted September 11, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 11, 2019 I have only seen it done from a soda gun.

Cans only used if guns are inoperative/not on the fun for the bar. The cold soda from the gun is (usually) faster to serve than popping a warm can. callmebetty Posted September 12, 2019 #10 Share Posted September 12, 2019 If it's any help, Diet Sierra Mist comes out of a can at the bars...

PelicanBill Posted September 12, 2019 #12 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Ask what soda they have in cans and choose from that. Pepsi, Diet Pepsi almost always in the guns.
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted September 12, 2019 #13 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Soft drinks, soda and pop... all the same.
Sand and Seas Posted September 12, 2019 #14 Share Posted September 12, 2019 If you purchase the package, they print SODA on your card.
disneylover89 Posted September 12, 2019 #15 Share Posted September 12, 2019 I wonder if you ask for an unopened can of soda at the bar if they would give it to you. My husband drinks soda first thing in the morning instead of coffee and would like to drink it sitting on the balcony in his pj's
Froggitt Posted September 12, 2019 #16 Share Posted September 12, 2019 It's mainly the older ships that have some bars that don't have the soda gun. They tend to have bottles (sometimes cans) of soda that they pour from.
PelicanBill Posted September 12, 2019 #17 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Ahhhhmm from Soda Country too. Then I moved to Rochester NY where I fight the fight every day against the scourge of Pop.
rrebel94 Posted September 12, 2019 #18 Share Posted September 12, 2019 Love the map! That is too funny. I was in Texas for the first time and I ordered a Coke...The waiter said "What kind?" Then I noticed that when I would be with co-workers in the South, they would say "Let's get a Coke" and then they would buy a root beer. When I asked, they would say, "We call everything Coke."

Find your county and see what your % pop is. Report back. We want to know. This was 2013 data. To see it today go to http://www.popvssoda.com/ Hover your mouse until you find your county. Tell us the %pop. This is important.

I usually pick up a few cans and keep them in the mini fridge in the cabin. Only soda that comes with the package is from the gun (unless the bar does not have a gun or it's broken). It is like $3.85 per can with tax and tip.

Yes -- but do you order Sweetened or Unsweetened? I'm from the Mid-West (Dubuque) - in our neighborhood we grew up calling it both... Some called it Soda & some Pop - there may have been a few who called it Sodie Pop Our House served Coke Next Door served Pepsi Across the Street served RC 5 hours ago, PelicanBill said: Ahhhhmm from Soda Country too.
