day pass or eagle beach questions

Any hotels offering day passes - we would want shady place to sit, nice pool?

If we head to Eagle Beach we would be looking for a beach bar that rents umbrellas / chairs - CocoLoco? When we want to return to ship, will bar call a taxi for us? - we would prefer not to stand and wait for bus. Do you think we could ask the taxi that takes us to the beach to return for us at a set time?

We used resortforaday dot com to book day passes at the RIU Palace. They have a family hotel and an adults-only hotel that are roughly (if not exactly) the same price. Both are all inclusive.

We did the family friendly resort and loved it. We were treated the same as the hotel guests. Loved the bartenders and drinks, the games they did for the kids in the pool, the food was good, and the beach was calm and clean. We also borrowed snorkel gear from them and just swam around the beach area looking a fish. It was a relaxing day!

We did Flamingo Island and stayed at the private island all day. Then in the evening we went back to our hotel room, took showers, relaxed for a bit before going out into Oranjestad shopping and eating dinner before heading back to the ship that night.

That does sound like a nice day. How did you book that? Thanks

We booked a room in the ocean suites towers of the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino. The boat picked us up inside the hotel to take us to the island, then dropped us off next to our tower at the resort when we were done.

question about Flamigo Beach.   If you book a room for the day you arrive to Aruba on the ship, will they give you access to the private island and pool before your check in time ( 4pm).  Obviously, we want to spend the day at Flamingo Beach and the room is just to let us have access to the private island?  We depart Aruba at 11pm that night, so we wont even be staying the night....maybe showering before heading back to the ship.

Is the beach nice?  We are beach snobs,....no rocks, or seaweed!

What beaches are the best for NO rocks, or seaweed?   First time to Aruba but seasonsed cruisers!

Honestly the beach itself at Flamingo Island is NOT nice. The sand and everything is nice but in the water is a lot of rocks and seaweed.

We booked our room online then we got there that morning. Went to check-in and they gave us our resort pass. We went to Flamingo Island. Once we were done there, we went back to the hotel and got our room key. We went to our room, took showers and changed clothes. Then relaxed a bit before going out into Oranjestad shopping and to dinner before going back to the ship.

Is there another beach attached to that hotel without going to Flamingo Island? It looks like there might be when looking at goggle maps. We are booked here after our cruise but I didn’t realize about all the rocks and seaweed.

There are Flamingo Beach and Iguana Beach, which are both on Flamingo Island (Renaissance Island). They're exactly the same though.

Did you ever get your questions answered.  Going in March and would like to go to Eagle Beach on our own as well.  Have you already been on your cruise and perhaps be able to provide some direction.  Thanks in advance.

Hello SCGirl - our friends did go to Eagle Beach - were not too happy - all umbrellas and chairs sold out by 9:00 am but I suppose that depends on how many ships are in port that day. She actually wanted to go to Surfside but taxi driver coaxed them into going to Eagle. You might want to consider a different option or be sure to get there early!

there is a beach bar & you can rent chairs  & umbrellas. Not sure if they will call a taxi for you but we took a taxi out & back and don't remember having a problem getting the taxi.

Thanks will check how many other ships will be in port and use that info to make our decision.  My DH absolutely must have shade of some sort!

Just a reminder the increase for grats goes up on Jan 6th if not included as a perk or already paid for.  Its a small savings but every little bits helps!  Happy New Year to everyone!

I believe that's only for Celebrity. That may be best posted on the Celebrity board, rather than the ports of call boards. 😉

I do apologize! I thought I was on the roll call for my upcoming cruise.
