TRIANDA Posted September 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2019 Looking for information whether on the repositioning cruises on "Quest" or "Journey" from Dubai-Athens, we would need to obtain visa's for Oman, Egypt, Jordan, or do Azamara organize a blanket visa? Also Flying into Dubai, are we correct that we could obtain a free visa to enter, as we would be less than 48hours in the country before joining a ship. Many Thanks for any help. cinnamon Posted September 18, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 18, 2019 This is very interesting. When we booked Quest for Dubai-Athens for next spring our TA said we would have to obtain our own visas nearer the time.
Grandma Cruising Posted September 18, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 18, 2019 Certainly wasn’t the case for us on any of the 3 repositioning cruise we have done from Athens to Dubai. One of the three times we did it, the cruise finished in Mumbai and we DID have to get our own visas for India.
Baynanno1 Posted September 18, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 18, 2019 Travel agents don't necessarily know everything and in some cases lead travelers astray. Way back in the 90's when we were novice travelers, we did a whistle stop tour of Europe by bus. In spite of asking our TA on at least three separate occasions we were assured we did not require visas for Hungary and Czechoslovakia (as it was then), we did of course need them . . . embarrassment (and extra $$$) at the first border and a day of touring lost obtaining the second visa we had been emphatically told we did not need. Since then we have rarely used a TA and on the occasions we do use one, we have done our own research thoroughly before contacting one. Like Grandma Cruising, we did not need to obtain visas before boarding our Athens to Dubai cruise (October - November 2017). We frequently stop over in Dubai en route to Europe and have never obtained a visa prior to arrival. However . . . with current tensions in that area of the world, it may pay to check with the various Embassies in case there have been recent changes (since July this year in the case of Dubai when we were last there). Your TA may not realize that Azamara would take care of it, if they are still doing that. I tend to research everything regardless of what I’m told, just in case there have been any current changes to what I may have been told
