lbrush Posted October 25, 2019 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2019 We have a group of 20 leaving from port everglades on January 12. We are flying in the day before and have been looking for a hotel that is reasonably priced and not two far from port. I wanted to see if anyone could suggest an area or hotel that is not too far from the port but where they might be a little cheaper then the ones I have been checking which are around 250.00 and up. Rare LHT28 Posted October 25, 2019 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2019 I used trip advisor to research what is available for my dates & budget then check the hotel site to see if they have any deals
JohninDC Posted October 25, 2019 #3 Share Posted October 25, 2019 Howdy neighbor! 😉 Welcome to the boards! January is peak tourist season in south FLA - prices will only be going higher. www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area hotel and tourist info. Farther away from the beach and closer to the airport is generally cheaper, but nothing acceptable will be much less than the price you quoted. shipgeeks Posted October 25, 2019 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2019 We have always stayed at a 17th Street hotel, but you are right, January prices are way too high. This time we are booked at an airport hotel for about $150.
bcsurvivor2001 Posted October 27, 2019 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2019 I was running into the same issue with $$$. But we found Staybridge Suites Fort Lauderdale - West (on Griffin Rd). Going day before and staying day after cruise. Got a rate of $152/night (1/11 and 1/19). AAA rate.
BlueHerons Posted October 27, 2019 #6 Share Posted October 27, 2019 Check hotwire. Honestly no area is going to be significantly less expensive and if it is, avoid the hotel. Also, check Plantation.

Except, sometimes you can get a better "deal" if you are using hotel points to book, as generally they are the same year round.

lbrush Posted October 30, 2019 Author #9 Share Posted October 30, 2019 Thanks everyone for your help. We booked the Staybridge Suites in Ft Lauderdale - West as well and received a good deal with airport and port transportation.

Thanks As I noted previously, we chose a hotel that is served by SAS Transportation, for shuttle to POM. We were able to select a pickup time on the SAS site. The hotel we chose also provides free shuttle from FLL to the hotel, so all is taken care of. After the cruise, we will use either SAS or the cruiseline shuttle to return to FLL.
