suite perks on jewel class

Hi!  My family and I are considering getting a suite on the Norwegian Pearl (jewel class) and we're a little unsure about the suite perks.  It appears that these can vary based on the class or even the ship?  We are reading different things all over the place - does it include reserved seating at shows?  Someone said a complementary mini-bar, which seems unlikely.  We found recently on RCL that some perks listed on their website did not apply to the larger ships b/c there are just too many suites (does not apply here obviously). TIA!

You are correct that the suite perks vary from ship to ship. The Jewel class ships have smaller havens and the access to them is limited to the haven suites on deck 14 and 15 plus the four owners suites on decks 9 and 10. The Owners suites and the Garden Villas have the free bottles of liquor and mixers they also have reserved seating in the theatre.

All suites have the option of eating breakfast and lunch in Cagneys or Modernaro - they are pampered with a nice buffet as well as hot meals and French press coffee. All suites have butler and concierge service. Suites also have a Nespresso coffee maker in the suite. Suites generally have better linens and toiletries. They also have king beds that do not separate. Usually there is a cocktail reception for suite guests - usually with the ship's officers including the captain.

You can also get meals served in your suite - we have done this on sea days when we want to lounge around in the suite in the morning.

Add Priority check-in and escorted boarding at embarkation port.

Best that you have the Beverage package as the mini-bar in cabin is not free except OS DOS and GV ***

*** there really is no mini-bar in the OS DOS and GV since big bottle liquors and mixers are provided.

For the shows reserve seating is available for all suites - the GV DOS OS getting prime front row.

The other suites have next row reserved seating and if the above prime is not occupied feel free to

move down (check with Concierge before doing this). Cocktail service is available before the shows.

As with any shore excursion - tendering or just simply getting off the ship for a walk priority disembarking

is the rule again check with the Concierge for details and passes and bypassing the crowds using crew elevators.

When you first board the ship if you haven't finalized your dining reservations the Concierge staff will

assist you - do this soon on boarding - the Concierge can't bump existing reservations but there are some

times allocated/reserved for suite and Haven guests.

Dining in cabin check with your Butler - I believe that there are no Room Service charges for suites !

Movies are FREE for all suites - most of the ships now have video on demand - and some older ones

still have the DVDs request those from you Butler.

Most of the newer ships have reservations by in cabin TV and the ability to check your on board account.

Upon leaving the ship (sorry the good life has to end sometime) check with the Concierge if your travel

arrangements make an immediate Walk-Off necessary or other service to catch a shuttle.

Have a birthday anniversary or other memorable occasion let the Concierge know to make it special.

Remember to get the business cards of the Concierge and your Butler with their phone numbers and note

that suites have a private phone that can be carried about the ship for any immediate assistance or simply

to call you when you are not in your cabin.

This is just some of the fun things that being in a suite has awaiting for you.

Really great when you can work a deal for the take all promos perks and book a suite and then get double

Latitude points !

OP: starting in Fall 2020, NCL will be recategorizing some of the non-Haven suites on the Jewel class ships and possibly eliminating butler service (or more) from some.  If you are looking at cruises for next Fall or later, please see the informational thread that I put together about this:

DURN  - I have been on both the Pearl and Dawn and the reserved seating area is in the lower balcony and is marked for GV OS guests only. If they are not using it then it can be used by other Haven suites then to non-Haven suites then to general public. I have only seen one show where it was SRO and that was on the Dawn when Patti and Jose performed a Neil Diamond Tribute.

All of the outside for the suite perks are arranged/controlled by the concierge. All of the in suite perks are done by the Butler.

Speaking only as to the Jewel class ships, I don’t think the seats that are reserved for suite passengers are in the best location.  I’ve never had a big problem getting a good seat in the main theater on these ships.

That stinks, since this was one of our favorite perks on Harmony of the Seas, not having to go early and just showing up to great seats.  Granted, Harmony is a much larger ship.

Not to worry, RCI’s Behemoths of the Seas and NCL’s Jewel class ships are in a different universe of vessels.

PS: when we’ve sailed in suites on NCL, we never sat in the reserved seats.

The other benefit of a suite is your cordless room phone works around the entire ship, so you can call other rooms as well as them being able to call you as long as you  are anywhere on the ship. you can also call your butler / concierge as needed.

We had a forward suite on the pearl and a rear accessible suite on the Gem , both ships had the reserved seating on the second level of theater left side. Concierge was there every night for early show and would let all suites use reserved area starting 5 minutes before show. There always seemed to be much better seats still available elsewhere but I suppose if you had 5 or 6 people in your group (all suites of course 😀 ) then it would be worth the ease of showing up late and having seats together although not the greatest view.

Thanks for the information.

Would you know what category those suites on 9 and 10.  Do they include the corner Aft-facing suites on the corners on those two decks?

For some reason, I thought all suites had the reserved seating for shows.

Last fall on the Pearl, we were in an aft penthouse and we met the concierge outside the theatre most nights and were escorted to the suite seating area. (I think there is also small a separate Garden Villa section on the opposite side of the theatre, but I may be remembering an older sailing...)

All of the aft-facing suites on the Jewel class ships are currently categorized as SF.  (But see my post above about the re-categorization in Fall 2020.)    The ones on the corners are in the same class; they do not have wraparound balconies, btw, they are really just at each end of that row of aft-facing staterooms.

For a better idea of the balcony structure on the JEWEL use this LINK:

On my sailings on Jewel class suites, the concierge has been next to the balcony section reserved for GV and OS only. We did ask if we could sit there if there are empty seats  - he said no. I know that each concierge is different and they do have the ultimate say as to who gets what.

Or, better yet try these. The SF suites are on Decks 8-10, with Deck 8 being the deck above the promenade deck.  (These photos are of the Jade, but the Jewel is the same.)

As someone else mentioned, NCL is eliminating butler service on the lesser expensive suites. It's in small print in the cabin description.  I like the Haven on the new larger ships but find suites work quite well for the older smaller ships which don't have a dedicated Haven restaurant or lounge.

Haven suites on deck 9 &10 are also in the front corners of the ship. We love them! Nice layout and 2 balconies, one facing front and one on the side of the ship! Highly recommended!

Is there any evidence that this actually took place?  We are booked in an S4 category suite on on the Jewel in January.  Both the description given at booking time and the description I see in MY NCL says " Includes butler and concierge service."

I agree. We were in the DOS on the Jade and while it was nice, I wouldn't pay that price again on a ship like that. A regular suite would have been fine at almost half the price. Though we did drink more than our fair share of free soda from the mini bar mixers in the room. That was a nice perk to have when you got back to the room after an excursion and didn't want to wait at a bar for a simple soda.

The reports were it was going into effect roughly fall of 2020.
