Are there any particular nights when there is a special menu, barbeque, deck party,  captains dinner etc and if so when would they normally be held on a 14 day Carribean cruise on Riviera. Just want to check before making dining reservations. Would love some advice on this please.

Captain's Welcome party is usually second night. Free drinks in most bars around the ship for a few hours.

Sometimes there are other special activities, but no telling when they might happen.

Oceania is not some mass market line where you only get decent GDR food one night per week. In both the GDR and Terrace Café, there are interesting offerings nightly.

Want a basic like "steak and lobster?" You can get that poolside daily and Terrace Café nightly.

There are no phony Captain's dinners (unless you're invited to an officer dinner - still with the same good available to everyone) nor "prom nights" which are just gimmicks designed to make you think you're getting something "special."

What a great description!  We're heading there in a few weeks and I loved what you wrote here.
