Hopefully an isolated incident today as all last week it was just fine.   We’ve made reservations for later this week to try the Canaletto for a change (haven’t for several years) and we have a reservation at Pinnacle for dinner another day.  The time goes by so quickly.

The flowers in the Neptune lounge are so pretty.

That was disappointing service at breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill.

I understand that the Pinnacle Grill stewards are assigned to wheelchair duty for disembarking passengers, was told that by PG breakfast steward, the last cruise we were on, we spoke with one of the  PG stewards who was pushing a wheelchair among the crowd disembarking.

That is very true however we were there at 7am right after in transit was done and before regular passengers were even cleared.  There were only 3 tables with guests and several staff so no excuse at all.

We watched from our balcony as passengers slowly got on board.  View is from our balcony-weather would clear up shortly then rain again as people scrambled to get on.

We went to the Mariner reception and sat with a lovely couple and chatted.  Not as many showed up as last week maybe because of the ship being in port overnight.

When we left the Mariner reception and went back to our cabin we received the HAL umbrella after requesting one.  We noticed  the rain had stopped (about 3:30) so grabbed our umbrellas (just in case) and walked to Seaport Village.  When we got off the ship we could see a diver in the water behind the ship.

(I’m sorry if the photos uploaded twice-I still need a course from others in here!)

Hope you got to go out and enjoy more of San Diego's rain.  Last time I was there it was raining and some of the residents apologized to me for the weather.

We did get out.  It cleared up at 3:30 and we went right out.  Ended up being a beautiful evening.  (If we hadn’t taken umbrellas I bet it would have rained more!) The evening was so clear.

Enjoy your cruise on the Zuiderdam!

After walking around awhile we went to the Cheesecake Factory to share food-since we don’t have them where we live it’s a place we like to go.   We were early enough it was quiet inside. Our favourite to share is the stuffed mushrooms and Cobb salad.

Thanks-the late afternoon & evening was beautiful!

No happy hour in Crow’s Nest-the photo is the Mariner reception.

The reason that embarkation was so slow, is that the ship had no wireles/LAN internet connection to shoreside.  Therefore, everyone had to show a photo ID once at the top of the gangway.  Normally your security photo is take at check-in for HAL....or your previous cruise pic is sufficient.....and the computers are connected.

The south side of the pier has it's limitations; however, far fewer that the Broadway Complex/mini pier alternative.

All is well weather wise tonight for a visit to San Diego.

Last week and this week the Mariner reception was in the Crow’s Nest so you’re right there.  Just no happy hour at night now in the Crow’s Nest-there used to be around 9pm.  Seems only 2 locations now and both at 4pm.

Cheesecake Factory has so much to choose from but we pretty much always stick to our favourite. We don’t even get dessert there as it’s too much food.

Agree, absolutely no excuse at all.

Hope you have an improved experience for the second week of your cruise.

Thanks for your reply.

We are going to skip Pinnacle today for breakfast and maybe go to MDR.  Will probably return to Pinnacle tomorrow.  It’s weird sleeping on the ship overnight in port-I miss the sea movement!

Catching up with your reports and pictures.

We love Seaport Village.  So many cute small shops.  And at Christmas they usually have a large tree made up of Poinsettias.

There weren’t decorations like when we were here last year-seems still putting some up.  The large tree on the inside area (outside one of the entrances to Cheesecake Factory) is decorated but the lights weren’t on which was disappointing.  I also love the little shops there.

It was such a beautiful evening last night-very mild.  We were happy to get out for a walk, seeing Seaport Village again and having our favourite sharing items at the Cheesecake Factory.  The walk back was sparking with lights-I find it hard to capture on my phone but they still look decent and you get the idea of how magical it is.

Canadianbear

great pictures at Seaport Village and along the walk! Usually the Carousel is on with music during the Xmas time! You took a great pic of the lighted tree near the carousel. You’ll be in warm sunny weather again and have fun seeing your girl friend in Cabo on NCL!

The carousel was in full swing!    Can hardly wait to get warm again.  The Crow’s Nest is always so cold-many have commented on it-I always know to take my sweater.

We decided on the MDR for  breakfast today and there is a Club Orange line. They give you the white CO menu and we were seated right away at the very back at a table with a view.  We had asked for a table for  the two of us and it was (at a table set for 4).

Service was excellent.  Our waiter, Alit, was spot on and had a great sense of humour.  We didn't have any comment cards in our cabin so got one from Guest Services after we left breakfast.

Saw the large vases and had to take photo of them-so beautiful.

Attached the breakfast menu for CO but I’m pretty sure it’s the same as regular menu. You can to click on it to see it all.

We managed to go out around 3:30 and no rain whatsoever-turned out beautiful as was the evening.  Yes, we are certainly used to the rain!
