Pensioncruiser Posted December 1, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Has anyone seen the updates on hold luggage weight general impression is it's increased but can't find anything positive.😕
Rare dronnygirl Posted December 1, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Hi PC, as far as I'm aware the hold luggage is still 20kgs. The hand luggage was raised to 10 kgs, the only problem with this is that people were bringing carry on cases on board and the overhead lockers were full. Pensioncruiser Posted December 1, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted December 1, 2019 They are posting on another site that it's upto 25kg in one case🙄🙄

Don't know how they even manage to lift those😦

okavango Posted December 1, 2019 #10 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Just seen an extract from Marella , it does indeed look like they have increased the max case weight to 25kg , they are probaly hoping more people will buy the 25kg if they arn't going to lose some of it to the weight of an extra bag.
Pensioncruiser Posted December 1, 2019 Author #11 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Thought that was the situation perhaps at some stage they will confirm it🤔
marylizcat Posted December 2, 2019 #12 Share Posted December 2, 2019 (edited) I booked a Marella cruise a couple of days ago and it said then that the max weight of each case was 25kg, which surprised me as usually it is 23kg. But I doubt that is significant as it is the Tui flight that the luggage weight is concerned with, not the cruise terminal porters.
Vitalsign Posted December 3, 2019 #15 Share Posted December 3, 2019 Thanks I realise it's the flight weight but just wanted to know if it was a bonded port
Pensioncruiser Posted December 5, 2019 Author #16 Share Posted December 5, 2019 Looking like it is official 25kg max, don't understand what's happened to elf and safety which has always been stated to us, if I were a cynic I would say it's something to do with money as most of us purchased just one extra 5kg and split it over the two cases😣
Vitalsign Posted December 5, 2019 #17 Share Posted December 5, 2019 Yes PC if handlers are not allowed to lift more than 23kg then how come British handlers lift 25kg for other international airlines i.e. Quantas, Ethiad, Emirates etc Of course its money and as has been said this has increased the number of trolley dollies (not the stewardesses) in the cabin and causing flight delays cos not enough room in the lockers for all This happened on our return from Palma last April when quite a few had to be put in the hold which delayed our flight and cost TUI money So do I get my money back from the 5 kg purchased for next April? I doubt it But having paid 2 x 5kg I shall fill my trolley dolly with 10kg and put it in the hold and we'll still have 25kg in each case and another 10kg in hand luggage - which we'll need for 3 weeks This means for a 2 week cruise there'll be no need to buy extra - a result I think 😀
Pensioncruiser Posted December 5, 2019 Author #18 Share Posted December 5, 2019 Think we will still have to pay for the 5kg extra. We always book the extra for two weeks as don't like to do any washing on a cruise, time is too precious, never done a three weeker, sixteen days most, so have always managed with just the five. Time will tell👍
cruisevirgin66 Posted December 5, 2019 #19 Share Posted December 5, 2019 The allowance is still the same, ie 20kg hold, 10kg hand, but each individual case can now weigh 25kg instead of 23kg, so you'll still need to pay for anything over 20kg

Hi Vitalsign. I think it is the same for any passenger on any aircraft as in you can take as much luggage that you are willing to pay for as long as any single item meets the airlines policy on weight.🤷🏻♂️ Keep well.😉
