summerclouds Posted December 3, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2019 DH and I are booking our first Southeast Asia cruise, the Far East Discovery Cruise for Jan. 2021. We are trying to decide if one side of the ship is preferable to the other for viewing land while at sea. For those who have cruised Southeast Asia, is land visible while at sea, or does the ship sail so far out that it doesn't matter which side one's cabin is on? Thanks! catl331 Posted December 3, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 3, 2019 It seems to me that on all itineraries they try to get into international waters (12 miles out) as quickly as possible in order to open the casino. 😀
Rare ski ww Posted December 3, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 3, 2019 Entering & leaving harbour is when you can enjoy the scenery and the best place for that is by wandering around the decks.
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted December 3, 2019 #4 Share Posted December 3, 2019 If there are any still available, we would try to book one of the aft-facing veranda cabins on the Noordam. That way you can have a great view of the scenery when leaving all of the ports and enjoy the "non-windy" aft-facing views, along with any views on either the port or starboard side, while heading out to sea. CruiserBruce Posted December 3, 2019 #5 Share Posted December 3, 2019 Generally, unless there is "scenic cruising" listed on your itinerary, you will be a five or more miles from shore at your closest, except when entering or leaving a port.
