worldtraveller Posted December 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 14, 2019 We are planning to take a cruise out of NY to Canada and Greenland in August so probably will be sailing out of Brooklyn Red Hook. It says that boarding starts at 3pm. Does anyone have experience if it really is that late and if so when can you check in? Don't want to get there and have to sit for three hours. Thank you
skynight Posted December 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2019 (edited) If you are on the Caribbean Princess then boarding should be normal. Boarding will begin around 11:30. If you are on the Island Princess boarding may be delayed and might be as late as 3pm. The ship is arriving from Europe and is subject to Coast Guard, immigration and other regulatory inspections. If you are referring to the progressive boarding notice, this is only a suggestion. Edited December 14, 2019 by skynight
nini Posted December 14, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 14, 2019 Red Hook was one of the most disorganized embarkations we have experienced. It was on the Regal.

Thank you When we did this same cruise last August we were also told that boarding would start late, I think it was maybe 2pm. We showed up at 1 and walked right on. There were already many people on board, and some of them said that they boarded at the normal time of 11:30 or so. YMMV but I would show up at whatever time your usually board. worldtraveller Posted December 14, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted December 14, 2019 Thanks for your help; guess we will ignore what they say and show up at the "normal" time. Pompeii, did you enjoy the trip last August?
cnd crsr Posted December 15, 2019 #6 Share Posted December 15, 2019 We took this cruise last August. Our flight into NY arrived early in the morning and were at the Brooklyn terminal by 11:30 and boarded right away. Enjoy your cruise!
