"We just got upgraded to Aqua and we have never done it. Do we have to make reservations for Blu?  Right now we are still booked in MDR for 6pm. but we want to try Blu."

You can go to Blu any time they are open. Some times are busier than others, but we have never had to wait long for a table.

The first night can be chaotic in Blu.  Don't get discouraged as this is a turn around day.  Service will get back to normal the next night.

Enjoy your meals, especially breakfast, in Blu.

Enjoy Blu.  We love it there, sometimes even better than Luminae.  It is much quieter than the MDR and we have always enjoyed the food, service and ambiance.  No reservations needed or taken ever.  Eat whenever you want within their open hours.  If a table is not available, it is usually not a long wait.  Enjoy

I did not think the food was up to much and ate off the MDR menu most nights./ On M class ship that is always possible more iffy on S class, you have to ask very nicely and then not always I am told.

From my understanding the Blu kitchen is in an entirely different location than the MDR on the S class ships. We were recently on the Reflection in a suite and our Luminae waiter told us we could order off the MDR menu but not the Blu menu because of the location issue.

We now cruise mostly in sky suites and enjoy Luminae very much. Yes you can order off the MDR menu for lunch and dinner if dining in Luminae on the M and S Class ships. Not on the Edge class ship. We used to cruise in aqua. If you can get food from the MDR in Blu I would give your waiter a large tip. Even in Luminae it takes the staff extra time to get food from the MDR.

You will get a welcome letter on embarkation day in your cabin from the Blu maitre d with a dining time for the first night only. You are NOT required to adhere to that time but feel free to go when it suits you within the operating hours. They also sometimes offer patrons of Blu first night specialty dining discounts of up to 50%. Always available in Blu are the everyday favorite appetizers from the MDR like, escargot, shrimp cocktail, Caesar Salad and French Onion Soup even though they're not listed on the menu. They are very good about special requests as well since it's a much smaller venue. We especially love the breakfasts there. The service is excellent and it's a much more relaxing start to the day than fighting through the OVC.
