Cruzmama Posted January 15, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2020 I was upgraded from a 2C to 2B verandah cabin, midship on deck 6. I know this is a really good location, but will I be bothered when I look down to see the lifeboats? Should I find something higher that might not be midship? Also, I know that one of the "sweet sixteen" 2C cabins is available, which would be a larger balcony but more forward. Would that be better? The cabin I have now is 6082. On the diagram there is a big blank space across the hall. Wondering what that could be... Silly questions, I know.
jelayne Posted January 15, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2020 The blank space could be storage/elevator, a crew stairway, or an area for room service. We have stayed in a sweet 16 and while the balcony was large there was no additional furniture on the balcony. We hated being that far forward as the dining room, OV cafe and bars are aft or midship does we felt like it took forever to get anywhere
Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted January 15, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2020 You're probably overthinking this. Midship is a great location. Be grateful there are lifeboats should you happen to need them. Look past them. Is this your first cruise? Join your roll call and hope there is a cabin crawl. That way, you will have the opportunity to see different cabins and find out what is important to you. The first time I saw an inside cabin I thought I could never cruise that way. Well it turns out I could for short cruises when nothing else was available and I wanted to be on a ship with a group of friends.
Cruzmama Posted January 15, 2020 Author #4 Share Posted January 15, 2020 Thank you. I'm sticking with my midship cabin on Deck 6.
SeaHunt Posted January 15, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2020 You might check out this video of the cabin next door (6080) on sister ship Summit - about 0:39 the person shows the balcony and view of lifeboats. See what you think and if you think you'll be bothered. I wouldn't, but then I am just so happy to be on any ship you can't really count my opinion lol

Lifeboat placement on a lot of ships drives me CRAZY! We prefer to be all the way forward or all the way aft, but we are not the norm! I personally would go w/ the sweet 16 as we enjoy looking straight down to the water, not a lifeboat or public walkway. Whatever you decide, enjoy! barneyboy Posted February 7, 2020 #7 Share Posted February 7, 2020 We love the sweet sixteen cabins for the larger balcony. Our favourites are the end ones - 6030 and 6035
TMLAalum Posted February 7, 2020 #8 Share Posted February 7, 2020 Beware of the first 3 sweet 16s because the verandas have metal pillars which affect the view/ de 2 YOKOHAMA, JAP
