Tipping WJ staff

is there any way to redirect MDR tips to WJ staff from the auto-tip?

For families that NEVER use MDR (for whatever reason) and enjoy WJ exclusively, how do you tip WJ staff as a whole?

When you sit in same section everyday, you almost always get same group of 2-3 staff serving you and even get some special treatment by supervisors/chef and you can easily give them cash tip. But how about those zillion counter staff who do provide personal service now and then (many times going out of their way) and so if you want to tip the entire WJ staff, what is the best way to do so?

If you want to re-direct ALL of the "food" tips to your WJ staff, cancel your auto-gratuities, tip your cabin steward extravagantly ( 😉 ) and tip the WJ staff directly.

Many will argue with this approach.  I would not do it.  But in your situation, it is something that you can consider.

Just know that the auto-gratuity is currently $14.50 per person per day.  I would hope that your "new tips" would equal or exceed that.  🙂

Some of the WJ staff also work in the MDR.  For breakfast and lunch, they are scheduled in the WJ because the MDR either isn't open or doesn't need full staff since they only use part of it for those meals.  Everyone who works in both locations is part of the tip pool.

Tipping room attendant directly is straightforward.

Tipping WJ staff that serve you consistently is also easy.

Tipping chef team that go out of their way to offer authentiic food or share their own food is also easy.

But WJ team overall is just too big to hand envelope to each and everyone (especially when there are so many shifts and rotations)

Wish RCL create a line item for WJ staff or let us redirect tip slated to MDR to WJ staff overall

(or something similar to what they are doing in casino where you tip entire casino staff rather an individual)

Just leave the auto tips in place, and let the ship sort it out.   They know if you didn't eat dinner in the MDR, so I would hope they would send the waiter gratuities to the windjammer or wherever.  But, who knows, and who cares.  Just give extra to those who you deem deserve extra.  🍷

The best way to ‘tip’ the Windjammer staff is to call them out by name in questionnaire that you receive from RCI after completion of the cruise.  This gets them more recognition and goes toward their ‘moving up’ in position.

I always have my cell phone to take notes with and will note the names of any crew member that goes “above and beyond”.  It is not unusual for me to name up to 10 or 12 crew members on port intensive cruises because of more meals taken in the Windjammer.
