Markanddonna Posted February 17, 2020 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2020 FYI, because of the coronavirus, our ship removed all books and games for passenger use. Bring your own!

Bring your own! I guess that is a good precaution but since it travels through the air I wonder if that even helps. Now, the stomach bug it would help. lenquixote66 Posted February 17, 2020 #3 Share Posted February 17, 2020 We always bring our own books and games.
Rare ontheweb Posted February 17, 2020 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2020 The passengers are quarantined; they would not get to the library even if it was open.
Markanddonna Posted February 17, 2020 Author #5 Share Posted February 17, 2020 We are not in a quarantined shop. I am just warning future passengers that their ship may have that policy. Most people probably use those books to hold chairs by the pool anyway.
navybankerteacher Posted February 17, 2020 #6 Share Posted February 17, 2020 Of course, most mass market lines have downgraded their libraries - RC Grandeur last February had one shelf of old paperbacks.

The Grandeur in December 2018 only had hard covered books.

Bring your own! Can't really be much more than a token gesture imho to make it appear that they are doing something. If we are going to accept that Coronavirus can be picked up by touch (and I believe that to be the case now) then banning books is a token gesture. Surely you would need to disinfect everything on a constant basis? Every chair that every passenger sits on as soon as they get up? Every lift after everyone has used it. Every hand rail as soon as someone has used it . . . and every door handle and every window and every sun bed and every prom deck chair and every item in every on-board shop that people look at and handle and every lounge/bar table after people get up and leave it and so on and so forth If they aren't routinely doing the above things then closing the library is nothing but a token gesture Edited February 17, 2020 by KnowTheScore
Markanddonna Posted February 18, 2020 Author #9 Share Posted February 18, 2020 I agree. If the cruise line is really concerned, they should have only staffs serving the buffets
