Rather boring cruise. Also the issue that New Orleans is in lockdown until the day after it sails. Not sure how that would work with boarding at the cruise port. It would be in direct violation of the order.

And then "Do you think we will be able to sail in July?" Exactly, there are so many factors that need to come together before cruises will sail again. And one of those is once this strain passes when will the next one start. They may have a vaccine for Covid-19 by summer. However will that vaccine work against the next strain.
Waquoit Posted March 27, 2020 #128 Share Posted March 27, 2020 I can't believe there will be any cruises leaving from NYC for a good long time. I'm sitting tight and requesting a refund as soon as my cruise is cancelled.
IdRatherBCruisin Posted March 27, 2020 #129 Share Posted March 27, 2020 Just want to say that I know someone who flew into Orlando from NYC this week. He was not stopped, not quarantined, and went to grocery and liquor store on way home to Fl East coast.
tomtravel Posted March 27, 2020 #130 Share Posted March 27, 2020 I am in NYC----We are concerned about Hospitals and the elderly---Schools are closed till April20th- as a target date probably further. The last thing they will approve is Cruise ships coming or Leaving NYC.. The USS Comfort will be docked at Pier 90---with ambulances coming and going. I do not think they want to tie up traffic with a Cruise ship and cabs!
Rare mking8288 Posted March 27, 2020 #131 Share Posted March 27, 2020 As noted, USNS Comfort with 1,000 beds, including ICU bays, OR facilities and fully operational self-sustaining facilities will be just 1 mile north of Javtis field hospital with another 1,000 beds to relieve hospital-based ER's and trauma centers. Red Hook's Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, upon approval, will be converted into 1 of the 4 new field hospitals - adding 800 to 1,000 beds per site for this epic pandemic outbreak. It is becoming increasingly difficult for me to see cruise ships with passengers sailing in September and October for the popular New England/Canada season out of the Northeast. On the other hand, I can see cruise ships sailing up the coast to NY to provide extra housing for frontline medical personnel and other first responders in the surge, if the forecasted curves and calculations worsen, and not flattened. Meanwhile, USS Roosevelt with 5,000 naval personnel are being tested onboard for exposure to COVID-19 and being held at Guam upon ... https://news.usni.org/2020/03/26/coronavirus-outbreak-sidelines-aircraft-carrier-uss-theodore-roosevelt One can dream, and that include cruising next month. It's safe and it is free.

warburg Posted March 27, 2020 #135 Share Posted March 27, 2020 Greetings, Everyone, from South Beach. This is a first time in history event. There are no rules or traditions. It will take time for the unintended consequences to influence our future. On the Beach, thousands of hotel and restaurant workers were fired by the government without warning. And that was only the beginning. It is pretty much the same almost everywhere. Considering the situation in Italy, one consequence for that country will be extreme caution . I can't see welcoming cruise ships full of tourists from all over the world as likely anytime soon. When in doubt, cancel. Sooner or later, this too will pass. After it is over, it might be a good idea to reread the Constitution. It has happened that people lost their liberty because of an emergency. Not all of them got it back. Cause them to get laid off yes, "fired" No!
