well i hope they don't get bailed out and if they do let's hope they start paying their fair of taxes. Also, CEOs should stop taking major financial packages there is no reason a CEO should be paid millions of dollars a year...

Respectfully, I find that absurd.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with being successful and making money.  How much do you think a CEO of a multi-billion dollar company should be paid?

not 100 million. I find nothing wrong with making money, i am fine with that, greediness i am not. Some of these CEO who retire with ridiculous amount of money while employees get paid minimum wage. Lets be real now. I stand with what i said 🙂

If you have degrees like that and you are working  3 jobs...you're doing it wrong.

It depends.  2000 times the average employee's salary or 100 times?

Case #1:  A CEO making millions a year runs his company into the ground, lays off employees and wipes out their pension plans and files bankruptcy.  He exits the failing company with a golden parachute worth millions of dollars.

Case #2:  CEO makes personal sacrifices and takes company from nothing to a multi-million fortune 500 company and employees prosper because of the company's success.  (I realize capitalism mandates that success is measured by profits and employee welfare/compensation is irrelevant.)

In my fantasy world, CEO #2 should be rewarded commensurate to the company's success.  CEO #1 should feel the financial pain of his/her mismanagement.  Unfortunately our current system is not always equitable.

MSC Cruises has halted all its new cruise embarkations fleet-wide through April 30, according to a statement on their website. Pressure for NCL and other lines will begin to mount.

I really hope so.  This waiting to know is torture for my April 19th cruise.

I really hope if they cancel my April 12th cruise on the Encore that I can get my money back.  I think Lake Tahoe sounds better to me.

Do you think it will be safe to fly to Lake Tahoe by then. Not sure I would take that chance yet.

3 weeks away and the US hadn't even peaked yet. Did you see a post above that WDW is refunding hotel reservations through June.  That's telling right there.

This was to be our first cruise. NCL has not impressed me at all during this ordeal.  I have a late-April cruise and I'm hoping for a cancellation and full refund. And if we decide to book a subsequent cruise, it won't be with these guys.

can't see how you can you are not happy with ncl... all the cruise lines did what was told of them and I will wait calmly as they fleet returns

Oh, no I would not fly out there now or in April.  I was just saying I would rather go to Tahoe than a cruise, not that I will actually be going there any time soon.

Lake Tahoe is closed 🙂 No casinos open, no hotels open.  Shelter in place until mid April.  Would love to see your tourist $ when we are back open though.

I'm on the April 12th Cruise and it's baffling me that they've not cancelled it yet..  Do you think they haven't to see how many people canx on their own beforehand?  From what I've read, you don't get as much compensation if you do this and get more if the cruise line cancels the cruise..  I guess it's their way of saving money in the long run....

Agreed...We're sailing on April 24th and NCL has only canceled cruises up to 4/11.  Believe we, we're waiting until 48 hours before to cancel-we're going to get as much out of it as we can.

Yeah. I feel like we're all in a great big game of Chicken with the cruise lines. They're hoping more people will voluntarily cancel so they can save money.

I'm waiting until the last 48 hours before I cancel!

while I agree they should be paying more, as well as corps based in the USA the president wants them to pay less. , they do pay taxes at ports and hubs in miami.

Being over sometime in the July/August time frame.

Technically that is true, but it isn't going to look that way. At that time 100's of millions are still going to be sick, however multiple 100's of millions will have recovered making herd immunity work.

People's and government's reaction to this is going to be interesting. Imagine Trump getting on TV and saying open all the stuff again and let's get this economy moving with the number's listed above. While he is correct and then it will be much safer than it is now when people are only seeing 20 people sick in their states in the Midwest. So the question becomes, will they cut us loose come July/August or are we going to end up being stuck waiting for the numbers to get lower so it "looks" safer.

Trump has been tweeting about exactly that - reopening things in a week or two, in spite of the fact that the Surgeon General says this upcoming week things are going to get “much worse”!  I do NOT understand his logic and find it very frightening!

As far as April cruises, FWIW I live in Delaware and we’re on “all but essential businesses closed, schools closed, shelter in place” until May 15, and of course that date could slip as we get closer.  NJ, NY, and many other states are doing the same thing; Philadelphia and surrounding counties are as well. I’m sure cruising is not an “essential business”.  I wouldn’t go NEAR NYC under any circumstances.  Florida is requiring anyone arriving from NY and NJ to self-quarantine for two weeks so no cruising out of Florida as I’m sure other states will be added to the list.

Cutting us loose now is insane and I hope his advisers talk him out of it. It isn't even close to being bad yet.

The theory behind it is going to be open the restaurants and etc, just enforce social distancing all tables need to be 6' apart, same with seats in theaters, etc. Employees must wear gloves, stuff disinfected. It will work for about a week. Then folks will start getting lazy and that 6' will turn into 4', gloves won't be changed, no disinfecting today because they were out but will start back up tomorrow when they get some in.

Then it is going to come roaring back, and all the sacrifices made up until this point will have been for naught.

In Iloilo province on Panay island in the Philippines the social distancing means going to get food in a public utilities van costs 250 pesos($5) instead of the usual 50 pesos($1) because each passenger has their own row of seats as opposed to the usual can of sardines crammed configuration.

I just think it's being hopeful that we can start to get back to normal. It's been mentioned many times this is a fluid situation that can change by the hour.

There is NO way Covid-19 will be under control in 2 weeks. Heck here in Ohio the number of cases went from 350+ to around 440 overnight yesterday.

Our Governor is taking it 2 weeks at a time also and has said it will probably go longer.

Just wish people would listen and stay home as much as possible.
