Josy1953 Posted June 16, 2020 #2501 Share Posted June 16, 2020 Love your garden, we have spent most of lockdown working on ours and it still does not look as beautiful as yours but it looks better than before when we were both often out doing our regular activities. 1
Rare Eddie99 Posted June 16, 2020 #2502 Share Posted June 16, 2020 (edited) Lovely garden We swapped garden for balcony 3 summers ago and had been smug ... If I thought we would never holiday again, I’d rethink and wonder if perhaps we should revert? We’ll see Edited June 16, 2020 by Eddie99
Harry Peterson Posted June 16, 2020 #2503 Share Posted June 16, 2020 House and garden are far more important to us than cruising, though cruising's nice of course! Cancelled cruises this year are paying for the patio and summerhouse - at least some good will come out of it. 😉

Rare Eddie99 Posted June 16, 2020 #2506 Share Posted June 16, 2020 If you have finance you are desperate to invest I’d suggest home & garden companies plus patio heaters and gazebos for bars/restaurants It feels to me that many of us fortunate enough to have some cash will be ploughing it into our homes, with the prospect of a winter in lockdown or with limited opportunity to socialise elsewhere.

I cut the back and front garden grass today because with the sun then rain the grass is growing quickly. My knees are aching now. Cruiserjules Posted June 17, 2020 #2513 Share Posted June 17, 2020 What a fabulous garden. Our small garden is patio, (laid on soil from memory), gravel and pots, as neither of us are keen gardeners. But during lockdown Dave has grown 16 tomato seeds and 6 pepper seeds from food scraps (not from a packet of seeds) and the resulting plants have taken over my Belfast sinks and lots of my pots. Plans are now afoot for a small greenhouse.... We also have two little plants on the kitchen windowsill, but as he planted both lemon and an apple pips, we have no idea which is growing there. 2

Sounds as though somebody has a green thumb. Some of our garden has been given over to a small plot for runner beans a greenhouse and fruit trees and bushes. More productive and rewarding for us. kalos Posted June 19, 2020 #2516 Share Posted June 19, 2020 The wet weather is making the privet and grass grow ,which was beginning to look parched. Last week there seemed more traffic around but that has fell back due to the wet weather maybe. I keep checking the local covid report and we are still getting a few cases cropping up. Just looking on the news and see they have just put the country down to level 3 ,so lets hope we see soon see level 2 followed by level 1, fingers crossed . https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53106673

Our green bins were emptied this morning at long last, and the forecast from tomorrow onwards is good so that’s the weekends jobs sorted. On the other hand the good weather will crowd all the beaches and parks again. I keep checking the local cases too and we're 1041 cases and 229 deaths. Boots have also been in touch and won't be delivering our scripts anymore as we aren't shielding. So I shall have to be venturing out soon. Unfortunately not many are adhering to the law on face masks on buses which doesn't help. The local papers said we were still at a moderate level and the pictures of Barnsley town centre on Wednesday were just like they were pre -lockdown. Trying to stay up beat and positive but it's getting harder. As Frank's mum used to say "It'll all cum art int' wesh"😉 Avril

The guy who does our hedges seems to have dropped off our planet . I suppose they are a bit like gold dust at the moment ,so until they make a comeback .. Just sit back ,relax and watch the grass grow . Hold on .... You've done that

You've done that Both my friend and Rose next door still have their gardeners calling regularly even during lockdown. They simply left the money in an envelope somewhere for them to pick up. I do the same for my window cleaner. Avril
Hols4 Posted June 19, 2020 #2521 Share Posted June 19, 2020 Hols4 Just had our First Minister here in Wales with news that all non essential shops can open again on Monday but we are still restricted to a 5 mile radius of home. Living here in Snowdonia out nearest shops are 10 miles away so not much help to us. Been trying to buy a car for 2 months but cannot travel anywhere to test one. At least it is nice and peaceful around here until the holiday makers are allowed back in which seems lightly from 13th July if the virus cases keep low.
