Now to wait for our October 18 th cruise which we paid for in full ( I know big mistake)  to see if this will be cancelled and the process to start again

Great news for you!  85 days - 😒

It's odd how some Tesco coupons and some Champers and Strawberries seem so difficult for a major company like P&O to resolve.  Surely they don't get much interest looking after those 😁

They say that the only true mistake is when you make the same one twice...sounds like you'll be avoiding that by knowing in advance how you would like to receive your money back next time 💸

Fingers crossed though - you may be the first contributor on this thread who can remind us what an actual cruise is like!

Enjoy your refund 👍

We were on Arcadia on 18th October and when they first listed the new lot of cancelled cruises, there was a button to press for either a transfer or 110% FCC.  So our TA did the 110% FCC, which after 2 days disappeared, probably because it shouldn't have been there in the first place.  TA spoke to P&O and we do have the ~FCC sitting on our account hopefully to be used when the 2022 cruises are launched.  Their IT department presumably were at fault for that little error.  A lot of people went for the 110% FCC.

I remember that Jean - one of the few mistakes so far that have been to P&O's disadvantage and helps takes the stress away; I understand it was a small (ish) deposit I believe, so not too much at stake at the moment.

I should imagine too that just in case P&O jack prices up in their 2022 / 23 brochure then people who do have a 125% FCC including full balances, will still have time to claim for a 100% cash refund, if that then becomes their preference.

I wonder how the 125% FCC v refund situation affects the long-term viability of a cruise line?  One can imagine that the Cunard clientel might favour the FCC with few opting for refunds, whereas P&Os push for younger/first-time cruisers might result in most wanting a refund.  The impact on the bottom line might be interesting.

I agree - interesting question.

I suppose that the answer to your question may fall as follows:

-- Can people accepting a FCC be re-sold a subsequent cruise which is at least 25% inflated upon the price that the customer may otherwise have paid? If so, long term viability is not directly affected by the FCC - this is simply deferred income, damaging in itself but not necessarily irreparable.

-- Can passengers in both categories tolerate increases to cruise fares and other on board spend opportunities, such as drinks, speciality dining, shops, casino, excursions etc, which may be needed to increase "yield" per passenger, thus recouping lost income and helping to service refinancing debt?

The answer will also be affected by the spending power of the customers who emerge from the crisis and how far, if at all, loyalty, whether longstanding or new, will have been tested through the Refund / Shore-Side customer service experience.  Clearly this second part is subjective.

There’s also a hardcore ‘cruising community’ who we’ve already seen can be fed the biggest load of garbage by P&O and they’ll still book cruises and defend them online regardless. So these people will always remain.

The problem for them, and all cruising companies will be finding NEW customers, as Cruise ships have had such a bad reputation during this crisis that they’ll now be seen as Covid incubators... add that to a probable lack of sufficient insurance policy’s and a vastly inferior onboard experience... and I’m not sure why anyone would rush to book a cruise with new money (not FCC).

P&O keep saying ‘bookings for next year are way ahead of normal numbers’ but that’s just PR spin. They are ahead due to a huge amount of people rebooking cancelled cruises, not people running to hand them new money.

Carnival claim that the 6 weeks to the end of May, the height of lockdown, 2/3rds of cruises booked for next year were new bookings and NOT fcc related...

Not spin, it is either true or a blatant lie...

Correct - plus the mechanics of the "fluid pricing model" have, and will be, further changed to make sure P&O/Carnival gets its 25% back and some.

As they say, no such thing as a free lunch...pay more, get less.

Day 99 Nada, will we be joining the One Hundred Club tomorrow for all the people P&O don't want as future customers?

I expect so!

As a fellow member of the One Hundred Club, I can advise that it appears to be less exclusive in number than even the Pacific level of the Peninsular Club.

No 5% extra discount and I'm not even expecting a pin badge in the post...😡

I’m going to write in and complain about not being given membership of the double refund club 6 lots back and no sign of a duplicate not rewarding loyalty very well🤪

After the lies given out during the Refund fiasco I know what I believe.

We have never received one of the pins that were supposedly left in our cabin for us to wear proudly in the bar so people would look at us in awe!

Funnily enough, we never called down to reception to complain 🙂

Do they actually exist?

Has anyone actually worn one?

Why?

Oh yes, they do exist - at least the real ones...they are naff and definitely not worth a trip to Reception for.

I've seen a few wear them on formal night - different to asking the "how much money have you given to P&O over the years question?" or variants of...see other thread.

Funnily enough a few people try to flog their badge on eBay along with all manner of Loyalty gifts from yesteryear.

Actioned a section 75 with my bank today. P&O are infuriating. Hope my bank sorts the refund out and there’s some sort of cost to P&O for them having to step in.

Raised an S75 myself last week with my bank that I pay £13 a month with and was told they've so many to deal with don't expect a response for at least 8 weeks and don't chase them up as they're very busy. Edited to add the S75 was against booking.com

As reported last week we finally got our refund for our March cruise.

Had an email today from P&O apologising for the delay and that our refund will soon be forthcoming for the March cruise.

Looks like we will be in that 'happy' band of punters getting refunded twice for the same booking!  Just more hassle if it happens.

Still waiting for our refund of deposit on our 28th June cruise though.

Difficult times I know, but pretty shambolic.

They exist but we’ve never worn them and to be honest, I’ve never noticed anybody else wear one either.

Has anybody who has been refunded twice paid them back yet? Or are you hanging on to it for 60 days?😉😀😎

Do they actually exist?

Yes they do. We've had two each.

Have we worn them?

Absolutely not. Never knew what happened to them or where they went and didn't care either. We do have some taste.😊

So why do you pay them £13 a month if that's their attitude?

There is, of course, a third option, which is to say nothing and do nothing, unless and until you have received a credible threat of legal action for recovery. If P&O is stupid enough to refund me twice then that’s the approach that I shall be taking.
