Is now a bad time to book for next year?

Very arrogant and selfish  "I can do what I want, don't need to follow the rules" attitude. So a cruiser lies at check in, lies to get on board, gets deathly ill on board mid cruise (forgot/lost medication, many other ways etc)... who bails them out? RCL? The insurance provider? Their  governor/aka the American tax payer? Enforcement should be getting word out that sick people are being immediately dumped at the next port for outright lying and putting the crew and the other 5000 fellow cruisers at risk.

The problem is that many of the rules are overkill.  I am referring specifically to the health questionnaire that you fill out on the day of boarding.  Things like a runny nose, sore throat, etc. could be the result of seasonal allergies.  Vomiting could be due to eating a meal at a restaurant that didn't agree with you.  Yet, if someone experienced any of these things leading up to their cruise and were honest in their answer, they could be denied boarding even though they aren't contagious.

If the cruiselines were more flexible with offering refunds due to people being sick, people wouldn't lie.  Being denied boarding due to having a cold, allergies or mild food poisoning is not something most insurance companies will cover.

Would I lie about having cancer, diabetes or heart disease?  No.  But cruiselines are being flexible right now with their cancellations.  Would I lie about having a sore throat from allergies or that I recently vomited due to food poisoning?  Yes.

Please re read the the previous posts... we are speaking of serious conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer for example.

Please re read my post and you will see that I was providing an example of WHY people lie.   They don't want to risk losing $$.  Post #21 pretty much stated the same thing.

Cancer, heart disease and diabetes are not contagious.  If someone with these conditions got infected with Covid-19 they have a higher chance of requiring ICU care (which would be a nightmare on a cruiseship).  Them boarding the ship doesn't put the crew or other 5000 passengers at risk as you seem to be suggesting.

What I'm concerned about is the doctor's note if you're over 70.  We're basically healthy, retired,  though I continue to work on my laptop as we travel, and will be really upset if we can no longer cruise.  As a lawyer I can't imagine doctors signing the letter.   Btw we cruised when I was undergoing chemo for colon cancer. I was in my early 50s then.  Doctor told me to go....that I should live my life and not sit at home.  I'm moving forward as i can't imagine just sitting and doing nothing.  Not how I want to live my life.

Let’s see, insulin and syringes are a couple giveaways.  They could also start checking medications, some of those would also be a giveaway.

I can't see them taking all the extra time to do that. They will have to check  bags even better then the TSA does when getting on a plane to determine all that.

I already booked my Harmony TA April 2021 (Suite GTY) and have a September 2020 on Indy from my free casino Junior Suite offer.  I haven't bought anything out of planner yet for september- but that is mostly because i am waiting to see who will be going with me- hubby or some girlfriends.

not worried about next year

We've cancelled our cruise for 8/15 and in checking prices for the same time next year I found the same cabin was 500.00 more. Not going to be re-booking anytime soon.
