That'd be me😉. I can also remember having telephone numbers with less than 5 digits that were easy to remember too.

I remember Whitehall 1212.🚔

Really? I don't know anybody over the age of 4 who hasn't got one and I did feel connectivity issues were a thing of the past...

The older generation are all over Zoom at the minute, Grandad George is 97 and keeps popping up in my lounge...

Must just be lucky down here...

Many people still don’t have smart phones and there are huge areas of Scotland where there is limited or no connection even if you do have one.  Catches the tourists out in a regular basis as they rely on online maps and they just drop off.

Our friends don’t have any connection at home, they have to go to the distillery way down the road to get any sort of connection.

No idea re the app working on ships. Just remember them saying yesterday that it could work in other countries. I don't think there's an easy answer re cruises and travelling in general.

I don’t think that is correct although I suppose it may work in a foreign country if you meet somebody else with our UK app.

I'm only repeating what they said about it during the daily briefing yesterday. I'm not an app expert.

Just to cut off memory lane for a minute, and return to the thread.

So, I install the app, and then stand in a queue outside Tesco for 15 minutes, and someone 10 places behind me in the queue "pings"  me with their app. 2 days later,  this person has a sore throat,  makes the appropriate action, and suddenly I get told to quarantine for 14 days.

What possible good can it do?

I'm out!

Some figures that I have been following that are deeply concerning:

At 3.25 pm yesterday there were 3671812 confirmed cases worldwide.

Casualties  were 253241 those recovered 1211210

therefore 2207361 were still active cases

at 6.50 pm yesterday there were 3701022 confirmed cases worldwide

Casualties were 256366 those recovered 1227221

therefore 2217435 were still active cases

At 12.30 am today there were 3723447 confirmed cases worldwide

Casualties were 257953 those recovered 1239368

therefore 2226126 were still active cases.

The number of active cases has been rising for a number of weeks.

Draw your own conclusions!

My conclusion is that more testing is being done. QED, more active cases are being discovered.

Same here no smart phone or Apps for me

If it goes National/International, you will have a free choose. Spend a few quid and get an old smart phone with the app, or stay at home for the rest of your life.

Simples😷

There will be a lot of people staying at home then. Suits me fine.

I am assuming the app only registers people within 2 metres of your phone, and staying there for several minutes, and therefore might have been close enough to infect you.

And of course if you dont self isolate your phone will self destruct in 10 seconds.😝

That will be your free choice. Lots of ex cruisers means prices may drop. With the money I save I may go to 50GB like DW.

Reading many of the comments here it seems unlikely that the app launch, whichever app, will reach the numbers required for it to be of any use.

As they say on American ships. No appy, appy,no cruisy cruisy.😷
