disney54 Posted May 6, 2020 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2020 We were on the Coral princess in March. The cruise where you could cancel the day you got on the ship. But not before you got on the ship! After the 'disturbing' voyage we noted with our friends that even our stateroom accounts, where we were owed a considerable sum, had not been refunded to our credit cards. Has anybody else experienced the same withholding of stateroom money owed. We will not mention the other cruise amounts that are promised with reference to the voyage. We can only conclude that they are hanging on to all the money as long as is possible, by any means

chrysalis Posted May 6, 2020 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2020 (edited) I will only deal with stateroom account as there are plenty of other threads relating to other refunds owed (in one form or another). Crown Princess sailing that was cancelled while on board with still another 10 days to go....owed over $750 from stateroom account....not received as yet. Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted May 6, 2020 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2020 We are still owed money from refundable OBC from cruises ending 12/27/19 and 2/12/20. We have been promised (after three phone calls and two emails) that the request for checks has been forwarded to the refund department at Princess but Customer Relations claims that’s all they can do. We are now well past the 60 days refund processing timing promised by Customer Relations.
Moustique Posted May 6, 2020 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2020 We are also waiting for a big check (around $10K) for a series of sailings ending February 23rd. The amount is a combination of refundable OBC and reimbursement of a move over offer accepted in February 2019. I have called and the person I spoke to could not see anything about money owned to us. I have also written to Customer Relations but got no reply so far, just the generic email confirming the reception of my email. Princess is holding on to funds of ours for a cancelled cruise (we were supposed to arrived today in LA after departing Auckland on April 15th). We also have a couple of gift cards in hand. I am starting to feel like Princess banker. I hope this will not end up as bad debt!

It won't show up on your credit card. Money left in your folio at the end of a cruise is refunded in check form. As others noted, it's taking longer than normal. All you can do is be patient. BTW: the check will arrive in a fairly plain envelope with the return address "Bottomline Technologies".

MplsYogini Posted May 7, 2020 #8 Share Posted May 7, 2020 (edited) We're still waiting for our refundable OBC from our cruise that ended on January 25, 2020. Over a month ago, I spoke to an individual at Princess who said that all refunds that had not been processed are now being handled by the same in-house group that's handling the cancellations (instead of Bottom Line), and could take another 30-60 days...although that timeframe is probably bumped out now. rhblake Posted May 7, 2020 #9 Share Posted May 7, 2020 My guess is that if you did not put the money into the account you probably will receive nothing. If it was OBC from either the cruise line or your TA, you will be out of luck, as none of those funds would be normally be provided until you sail. WAussieSFO Posted May 7, 2020 #10 Share Posted May 7, 2020 We were on the infamous Grand cruise to Hawaii and have not yet received refundable OBC that is due as a result of taking a move-down offer. However, we have received a check for OBC that was pre-purchased via Paypal and also what was given by our TA. A friend that had also purchased OBC for us as a gift also received a refund to her credit card.

Belle Posted May 13, 2020 #12 Share Posted May 13, 2020 Money left on your cruise card/folio if you read the fine print.....any money over $20.00 will be sent in 12 weeks. I think it could be longer with all the ships their dealing with. Also think all the other refunds that they say will take 60 to 90 days could take longer too. I am owed a lot of "refundable" OBC We did not really have much opportunity to use it before being put off the ship. They dumped a very large amount in our folios a day or two before we disembarked. (partly port fees and shore excursions for the current segment only) We were told the last segment(s) is not in the system and they can not do anything with that portion. Also, we were not given a final folio like we usually get the night before disembarkation. Someone from my cruise mentioned here on CC that our folios were not off loaded when the ship arrived in LA (a month after we disembarked) so they could possible be currently on the ship sitting in Manila Bay. I have doubts about this and if we receive anything it won't be what was there at the end.

Holly, we already knew half way through that we weren't going to complete this cruise in the way we expected but we were going to just have to stay on the ship and try to get back to FLL. So between the time that I filled out the form on what option we wanted/ got confirmation(March 15th) and the time we were confined to our cabins on March 31st. I used those obc's since I realized there were going to be a lot of refunds to process and I was afraid my obc would get lost in the shuffle. We didn't get a copy of our folio at the conclusion of our cruise either. So I requested it and got it about 3 weeks ago. We went over it, line by line with the "post cruise specialist" and we are due several hundred dollars. I figured it would come back to the credit card that the folio charges were originally put on (2 weeks after the end of the cruise) but so far nothing yet. mevs904 Posted May 23, 2020 #19 Share Posted May 23, 2020 Our situation is a little bit different. We were booked on the March, 2021 South America/Antarctica Coral Cruise. After seeing the issues that were taking place on this year’s version of that cruise and hearing about the possible restrictions for older cruisers we decided to cancel our reservation and request our refundable deposit back. It amounted to a little under $900. We cancelled on March 20 and still have not received our deposit back.
bcnvcanada Posted May 24, 2020 #20 Share Posted May 24, 2020 We have been waiting for a refund from the 19th of January, have called and contacted Princess several times. This was before they starting having issues. It is only for a little more than $200.00usd It is a lesson learned.
Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted September 13, 2020 #21 Share Posted September 13, 2020 I wanted to report back that we finally received a check for the remaining refundable OBC we were due from cruises with disembarkation dates of 1/27/19 and 2/12/20. This was not automatic; in fact, we had to escalate it within Princess. We sent our final day on board folios to Princess more times than I can remember. I don’t know if it was complicated because the on board folios were in AUD (it shouldn’t have been) or due to COVID cancellations (again, it shouldn’t have been, as these pre-dated them). While I am relieved to have gotten back what was due to us, I will never again leave a ship with a refundable OBC balance. However, this won’t likely ever be an issue again, for several reasons. 1

Submitted paperwork on March 8, while at an Anaheim-Disneyland area hotel, for complimentary 1-night refund for hotel stay in Long Beach area.
