Classic chicken-vs-egg. Hard to have a cruise when countries/ports/airlines are closed/reduced schedule

6 of 8 in our group are scheduled to use IcelandAir for the Aug 20 Iceland's Majestic Landscapes.  The direct return Bergen-Reykjavi-Dullas now not available.

If the cruise does go and you have booked flights with Viking Air, they will work diligently to book alternate flights, if they are available from other airlines.

Even prior to C-19, Icelandair is the only airline offering service between BGO and KEF-- one flight per day. Fortunately for OP, Icelandair still has service from Oslo -- but it may mean adding an extra day to the trip home.

I tried logging into myvikingjourney.com this am. Got a

TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE

BOOKING IS BEING UPDATED

YOUR BOOKING IS CURRENTLY BEING UPDATED
IN OUR SYSTEM AND IS UNAVAILABLE.
PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER.

Peregrina651 I believe we are on the same Aug 20th cruise.

Think about all the moving parts of a cruise ship. All the employees need to get to the ship and most of them are not located in Norway. Then you have to stock the ship.

Looks like March 26th is when they cancelled June. Will be interesting to see when July is posted.

Try again. I just logged into MVJ with no problems. I also checked the main website and our sailings still shows for booking; we are booked for the Aug 8 sailing but have decided that it is not yet time to resume travel 🙁.  When they canceled our June 3 sailing, the first hints that something was happening was changes on the website and MVJ.

This may be the least of their worries. They still have to figure out how to get pax to the ships and how to deal with mandatory 14 quarantines, where applicable. Viking will have four ships in the Baltic/North Atlantic this summer and all of them are scheduled to embark or disembark pax in Bergen.

We had booked with Iceland air using our Wells Fargo "Go Far" points. (We would have been flying out later this week to begin our Iceland's Majestic Landscapes adventure) While we could not get a refund of points we did get FFCs (Future Flight Credits) good for 3 years... if Iceland Air exhists that long!  So we shall see! We are rather excited to perhaps take a separate trip to Iceland or use them as a stop over enrout to Ireland or Paris someday. For now of course we shall just dream...

We are rebooked for our original adventure in July of 2021 and are letting Viking handle the flights. If things go squirrely we will let them work it out for us.

We are settling in to our new home in New Hampshire. Hoping you are all well and keeping safe. Please do wear your masks out. I would really like more things to open up and we can do that if we use common sense and caution. It's a tragedy... or will be... that the wearing of masks has become political. It's really simple science and hygiene. Let's all do our best to take care of each other. 🙂

Your points, once withdrawn, could not be redeposited?

Nope.
I tried but that was a no go. They already bought the tickets from Iceland Air. If Iceland Air won’t refund they can’t either. Makes sense.

thanks for mentioning that, it is a serious consideration.

a few months ago the Wall Street Journal mentioned the pressure big banks were putting on airlines to allow more  upgrade seats. bank customers were unhappy that their affinity credit card  points couldn't be used as the customer wanted.

nice to see one arrogant monopolistic industry fighting another so the customer benefits...
