FCC’s can now cover deposit amount

Recommended Posts

Sorry if this is a stupid question but,  Our FCC email shows money in my name and money in my wife's name (two different FCC certificate numbers on the same email for a canceled cruise) .  Can they both be applied to the same future cruise?  For example if I want to book a cruise for the both of us in the same cabin can I use both FCC's on that booking?

Just noticed that Royal added this to the FAQ’s.  Great move just wish that they had done this sooner.

27. Can Future Cruise Credits be used to pay for the deposit owed on my client’s reservation?

NEW! Yes - as long as the value of the Future Cruise Credit covers the full deposit amount, no additional funds will be oweduntilFinalPayment,atwhichtimeanycruisefarebalanceandtaxes/feeswillberequired. IfthevalueoftheFCC does not cover the full deposit amount, additional funds will be required to meet the total deposit needs and, thereafter, the remaining balance due at Final Payment.

That's good news as we have a £300 FCC which was our deposit for the cancelled June 7th Allure sailing.

And they will shuffle money around if one FCC is higher than the other to cover the cruise fare if needed.

Sort of related. Will they stiff us for the fares we paid for the 3rd & 4th (3&5 year old) if we don’t want to take them on our “replacement” cruise using FCC?

It was mentioned by the SVP Vicki Freed On a travel agent webinar that FCC’s could be transferred to another person if the holder of the FCC was over 70 or under 12.  I don’t know if there were any additional qualifiers or not and have not seen this in writing.

i would suggest calling post cruise guest relations at 800.256.6649

This is all good information for those of us that have received a FCC for the first time.  Sounds like we have some very knowledgeable and competent TA's within the group.  So now I ask the question to you...

My wife and I are waiting for our FCC from a cancelled Canada/New England cruise.  I have understood that I can only use one FCC per reservation, but then I read the CWC document that was referenced and am confused.  According to the statement below, we should be able to use a FCC applied to each guest in the reservation.

29. Can my client use more than one Future Cruise Credit to pay for his/her cruise fare? At this time, only one FCC can be applied to each guest in a reservation. Future Cruise Credits are not stackable.

Does this mean that since I will receive a FCC and my wife will receive a FCC, that we both can use them since both our names are in the reservation?

So confused and trying my best to be able to speak with confidence when I talk to my TA!

TIA,

Cruisn' Santa Scott

Yes, it is one FCC per guest.  As long as the FCC’s are in the name of the guests on the reservation

I was told yesterday by the casino folks that the FCC can now be used for upgrades too. Have you heard that Ken? That would be awesome!

I would have assumed that they would have been before since upgrades are just an increase in the cruise fare although I’m not familiar with how casino upgrades work.

I was told before FCC not to be used for deposits nor upgrades. Heck, each time I call I'm told something different. 🙂

I’m guessing that the casino had different rules regarding upgrades. (Assuming you are talking about upgrades on a computer cruise).  Didn’t they have to be paid in cash right away?

If upgrading on a casino perk, yes, it has to be paid in full.....but, what I did yesterday was move one of my "non-casino" cruises. I had it booked for May 2021 with the $300 deposit and $918 FCC and wanted to move to August '21. I called the casino folks since I deal with them a lot. Basically they said I couldn't move the deposit and had to take two FCC's, $918 & $300 and cancel. We went to resolution dept and I was right. Got it moved to Aug and they applied the deposit AND FCC at that time. That's when they mentioned they're now allowing FCC for upgrades. They were all confused on all the RCCL changes....

How exactly do you redeem the FCC when booking? Are your experiences through TAs. It doesn't seem possible to do it via the website, maybe im missing something

You are much better calling.  I've heard nothing but issues when people try to apply them using the website.

They actually made very recently allowing FCC's to be used as deposits.

There is still a lot of CSR's that do not know all the details.

Discovered that even the sales reps on the phones don't necessarily know....however, if you insist, eventually they go off and get some instructions on how to do it. You can't redeem the FCC through the online booking page....maybe that will change though.

Nothing new...  I had a Royal CSR tell me that the only thing I could L&S my Rhapsody Western Caribbean cruises to was the Rhapsody sailing in Europe the following year. I insisted she check with someone and they were changed to Symphony.

I have a cruise booked in May of next year. I already put down a deposit.   Does this mean that when I get my FCC I can ask to have the entire amount applied to my new cruise and receive a refund for the deposit I paid on my personal credit card?  Or - is the $500 non-refundable since we're in a full suite?

There was language yesterday about deposits in that case being able to used for taxes, fees, and/or pre-paid gratuities rather than receiving a refund, but that language has now disappeared (it was under the FAQ's for cancelled sailings). I know it was there because I printed it out and I'm looking right at it.

There is a link on the Royal site to apply them but I have heard it does not work well.
