I guess this might be the tiger who once appeared in the hotel?

There are also restaurants, and open air eateries.

Can I interest you in some new furniture?

We climb up these stairs. It’s incredibly hot and humid now and we look down into another courtyard.

A huge furniture showroom - no prices of course...if you have to ask the price you cannot afford it. These corner sofas would require a pretty enormous room.

We can see the shops outside, across the road. There’s even a MacDonalds, but its quite discreet.

We feel very lucky to have been able to experience this amazing hotel.

Hope you’ve enjoyed your afternoon tea...

Shopping, eating, washing and packing...

Our last evening, and we still have lots to do. We make our way up to our room, stopping on the way to admire the beautiful orchids.

We go straight up to our room and I start on some packing. It’s always difficult living out of a suitcase, and I’ll be glad we board Majestic Princess, and I can finally unpack everything.

I do some washing in the well equipped guest laundry and then we take a walk to the nearby mall.

We did enjoy it.  We stayed there two nights pre-cruise and then as I had mentioned earlier we splurged for one night at the Marina Bay Sands post-cruise.  The JW Marriott had a fantastic executive lounge that we got to enjoy given our Mileage Plus status with United Airlines.  It had a massive breakfast laid out and a great selection of foods during happy hour that we had for dinner each night.  They had an open bar for a couple hours at night as well.  We got it all for free last year but for our stay next year we will simply pay for a "club" room which includes access to the lounge.  Marriott no longer does the same status match with United so we don't get that perk.  It was good while it lasted!

Most Marriotts or JW's  have excellent executive lounges;  where you can always get a good meal.  One good thing about being elite with hotel or airline

Washing done, packing well on the way, it’s time to get something to eat, so we walk to the nearby mall - The Great World City Mall.  It’s a short walk, and the evening is much cooler so it’s very pleasant.

The impressive foyer.

Food first, we go down to the extensive food court, and both choose different things from different eateries.

Mine is a noodle dish with chicken and it’s really tasty.

The food court has a variety of different cuisines. It’s amazingly cheap and cooked fresh.

Then it’s back to the shops. Here are a few photos of the mall. It’s not ‘high end’ but it’s very clean and sparkling, and is in the process of being renovated and extended. It has a variety of shops and restaurants.

Starbucks of course!

And the inevitable MacDonalds....

As we walk slowly back to the hotel in the refreshing cool of the evening we have to pinch ourselves that we are really here. How lucky we are to have had this amazing experience.

Tomorrow we are off to Sydney. We have requested a late check out, and the wonderful staff have said it’s no problem to keep our room until 5.00 pm, when our car is due to pick us up.

I love your video of the ‘friendly toilet.’ How funny! I bet it gave you a bit of a shock the first time you saw it in operation. Trust the Singaporeans to come up with something as unusual as that! One question though, did it SHUT the lid after use and before flushing??

From recollection, it did close when you stood up.  It was a smart little thing!

My pleasure ellie1145.  DH and I have visited Singapore many times over the years and I've always loved Raffles.  Can remember the old days when it was on the beach front before the land reclamation works.  LOL never been able to afford to actually stay there, but we always headed to the Long Bar for a Singapore Sling (me) and a Scotch (him).  There's something about eating peanuts and throwing the shells on the floor that to me, is very satisfying LOL.  Lovely memories.

They still had the peanuts but they weren't anything like we are used to here in the USA.  They were smaller, harder, and more bitter than the peanuts we would get at a ballpark.  We still ate them - and threw the shells on the floor.

Yes it was a very good thing - while it lasted.  Last year after Marriott merged with Starwood, they reclassified their loyalty tiers.  We got the Gold Elite level for being Gold on United.  Pre-merger that level included free entry to lounges with Marriott.  We are still Gold with United and that still means that we are Gold with Marriott, but it no longer includes lounge entry.  Still the upsell amount for getting a room with lounge access is typically less than what we would pay for breakfast and dinner so we will just pay extra when traveling internationally.

azbirdmom.  I know what you're talking about.  I am Lifetime Gold with Marriott;  a few nights shy of Lifetime Platnium.  I am Lifetime Diamond with Hilton;  so depending on where I travel to; mostly stay at Hiltons; however, will be staying at Marriott in Denver in three weeks.  Oh well glad you got to experience the lounge.  Cheers

voljeep,  yes I did earn this thru travel.   I traveled for 45 years; both international and stateside.  I was able to obtain Lifetime status with both Hotel chains and airlines.

I think we could do with an automatic closing toilet on the ‘planes, don’t you?

I love the peanuts in Florida. They are so ‘moorish.’ Trouble is, you eat so many while you are waiting for the meal that you don’t feel hungry when it comes..

But I love that naughty feeling when I throw the shells on the ground! 🤣

Oh I’m so sorry it’s taking so long, I did warn you about the verbal and photographic diarrhoea...............

But I promise we WILL get there (eventually) and I hope it will be worth the wait.

And we will be on our way very soon to Sydney.  We had an absolute blast there!

Hang on in there, won’t you?

PS I can’t help thinking of you as anything but US cruise crazy! 😉

I am  enjoying this tour! I missed out on my Caribbean cruise at Easter for a special birthday because of CV ,  however "joining" this one tonight has been lovely!

Hello Winifred, lovely to have you along. You got here just in time!

I’m so sorry to hear about your Caribbean cruise at Easter. It really sucks doesn’t it?

We were SO disappointed when our Caribbean Princess cruise was cancelled, especially as I had got a bit ahead of myself and had started packing. That’ll teach me!

But we must live in hopes that one day we will all be cruising again..

But for the time being I hope you enjoy being on this adventure with us.

Well my dear cruising adventurer friends, it’s nearly time to leave lovely Singapore.

I really hope you’ve enjoyed our trip, and all the places we have been to in the last few days.

It’s been wonderful having you along with us, and I love how you are all ‘chipping in.’

I’m really hoping that this will not just be an experience, but that it will have some useful information for anyone planning to either go to Sydney, Singapore or Fiji.

Houston, we have a problem!

Oh dear, what am I going to do?

I started reading Pescado Amarillo’s Blog and I’m hooked! It’s brilliant!

But how on earth am I going to carry on posting if I can’t drag myself away from Yellow Fish Cruises??

It’s nearly midnight and I have several hundred pages to read it would seem....... it’s going to be a long night.....

Help is on the way!  Arrange a shuttle with the CANADA Arm. Use it to flip the pages while typing the Adventure. Try not to confuse the Blog in with the great adventure we’re all in.  I haven’t enough brain 🧠 storage space.

Thank you for coming to my rescue!

We have a solution!

All’s right with the world........well with the virtual cruising world at least! 🤣
