More than likely to be hotter in the Med in July than in September and with regards to BoB you can never guarantee the state of the seas at any time and chance you could have poor crossing in July and duck pond in September you never know.

I agree with majortom. We only cruise mid October to  late November and find the med is really good during those months. We can't cope with really hot weather now and find those months pleasantly comfortable. It's also a lot less crowded. The weather can be a bit iffy sometimes just as it can be during a normal summer. Nothing is guaranteed. As for B.o.B we've had different crossings each time,  you never can say for sure.

July is, imho, along with August, the worst time to go to the Med. Very hot, rammed with tourists and the locals on holiday, and generally unpleasant.

Go in September  - quieter, cooler and much  more pleasant.

As for the BoB,  that's a lottery whenever you go.

We cruised at the end of July last year in the Med, and it was hot but bearable. The aircon keeps it comfortable on the ship and sea days provide a very pleasant breeze even on the open decks in the sun.

The days are much longer in July as well making evenings out on deck much more enjoyable.

I would be quite happy with either time, and in fact we do have a July cruise booked for next July, and hope it will go ahead.

We usually cruise to the Med and generally find the weather excellent for sightseeing so late September should be a very good time. As others have said less crowded than July and just as likely to have a good crossing of BoB as any other month.

Thanks for all your rep!ies does seem September/October May suit us better

Correct decision. The ship may have air conditioning,  but why stay inside?

Strangely enough, our experience is that early October can be better than September, when the Gota Fria can occur, leading to torrential rain and flooding.
