Your pictures are fabulous. I’m really looking forward to this hotel and I’m glad I made the choice to stay there. I’ll have to let them know what time the cruise ship docs and maybe they’ll come and pick me up and take me to the hotel and my room would be ready early just like you and then perhaps they will take me to the airport when I leave so I have to check all those things out with them.

They will definitely pick you up at the airport and to the ship. Pretty sure they'll do it in reverse but we did it airport to hotel and hotel to ship. Just ask, they are wonderful.

Suze

thank you for your recommendation. I have gone ahead and reserved a room there for a couple of nights when I’m in Lisbon and it does look like a wonderful location.

I am just catching up on this and so sorry I didn't see the post earlier or I would have responded. The recommendation from suzeluvscruz is spot-on and I am very happy to see you have booked it.

Glad you will go see Sintra.

Try to give yourself some time to walk around downtown Lisbon and to walk to the higher elevation and up into the smaller local areas if you can fit that in. If not, just some walking around is nice.

To the Crystal fans of Portuguese Tarts, this morning, CBS had a little story about a Lisbon bakery famous for its tarts.  It is worth a quick view, and it will make your mouth water and give you a suggested pit stop if you are in Lisbon.

There's only one day in July that I don't have a sunrise or sunset and it's July 9.  This is from July 8, 2008 on a trip featuring Rovos Rail from Dar es Salaam to Cape Town.  On July 8 my brother and I were on a pre-boarding safari in Tanzania.

I'm sorting through a lot of old photos now, and came across these photos from our 2009 Baltics cruise. Nobody's going to be getting any of these shots any time soon!

These are all from our private tour in St. Petersburg. The first three were at the restaurant where we had lunch - our guide told us it was Putin's favorite restaurant. No idea if that's true, but it was a very unusual restaurant - taxidermy seemed to be a theme!

As many times as we have transited the Panama Canal we look forward to future transits. Each one is a different experience sharped by weather, time of year, and the many places you can view it from.  This is an example of why we enjoy revisiting selected places around the world.

Six years ago. Visit to Catalina Island. Irony is first visit for us and then we visited another three times on other sailings.

Our "dirt" home is in SoCal, and being scuba divers, we've dived at Catalina countless times. Did you ever walk over to Casino Point and see all the divers staging their gear there and entering the water from the stairs? That's the famous Casino Point Dive Park. You might have even seen me there. 😁

LeeAnne I did. In fact, I ran over there a few times as it was early in the morning and not crowded. Later in the morning I would walk around.  I may have seen you on one of our visits.

When I lived in Northern California back when the Sunday Section of the newspaper had an enormous travel section I would see those ads for going to Catalina Island over the weekend.  When we were there I saw those charters bringing people over to the Island.

I was the one in the wetsuit. 😉 haha

We used to sail our boat over there for the weekend. Or, if I just wanted to do a few dives and not stay over, I would take the Catalina Flyer fast ferry from Long Beach just for the day. It's some of the best scuba diving in the world! Although it's challenging diving - cold water, lots of kelp. Not for everyone. And unlike so many vacation dive destinations, you dive on your own...there are no requirements to go with a Dive Master. Which is how I like it. 🙂
