Rare Kynance Posted August 27, 2020 #152 Share Posted August 27, 2020 I think this one should be much easier - having said that, I think I’ve only spotted Stavanger so far!

Olden wasn’t looking it’s best that day - in fact we had an overnight stay there and it rained both days but on a previous trip we had brilliant sunshine. You certainly don’t visit Norway for guaranteed weather, although we have generally been fortunate.
bluemarble Posted August 27, 2020 #155 Share Posted August 27, 2020 Here's my contribution for today. Two Cunard ships for the price of one in this shot. That should help identify this port if the other details in the photo don't.

Here's mine for today Seeing some of those large yachts in the photo helps identify this one. Been there once myself, not on a cruise (or in a yacht) unfortunately, but by train instead. Managed to win about 50 francs playing the slots in the famous casino. That gives you an idea how long ago that was. This one is Monte Carlo, Monaco. sfred Posted August 28, 2020 #164 Share Posted August 28, 2020 (edited) And finally, just to complete the set of all three queens, here is QM2. One day I must take a holiday that doesn't involve climbing to some very high place adjacent to the harbour. So satisfying once you get up there, however, and of course the exercise fully justifies the big dessert at dinner once back onboard. Sorry for the fuzzy quality on this photo. It was a hazy day. I think that's the only time two of the current Cunard Queens have been in Halifax at the same time. Here's a shot from the reception that greeted our departure. This shows the city skyline to better reveal that this is indeed Halifax.

sfred Posted August 28, 2020 #168 Share Posted August 28, 2020 Bluemarble and Host Hattie are both correct. The Juneau picture of QE was taken from Mt. Roberts, adjacent to the ship piers. The Kotor picture of QV was taken from Kotor Fortress. Both were great climbs, and great scenic views as a reward. I know, we could've taken the tramway at Mt. Roberts, but the walk was definitely worthwhile. After all, the journey is as much fun as the destination, right?
Host Hattie Posted August 28, 2020 Author #169 Share Posted August 28, 2020 It certainly gets you a beautiful view, mine from Kotor aren't as impressive as we weren't on a Cunard ship and didn't make it to the top ! I think we anchored further out as well. This isn't very good quality but Ventura seems to be hiding

This one took longer than I expected it would since there is so much detail in the photo to work with. I was way off in the wrong part of the world for most of my searches. Finally found it in the far east. Those surrounding hills played a roll in the level of destruction the area suffered 75 years ago this month. This one is Nagasaki, Japan.
