Sadly, I have just cancelled my Jan. 3, 2021 Getaway cruise out of NY to Miami.  Our final payment was still 120 days so it was due next week.  I unfortunately booked with a TA that only gets back to you once a week so I was not taking any chances.  Hopefully I will book again when I see cruises sailing with no restrictions like masks, etc.

They just updated the Peace of Mind to reduce that 120 day final payment date to 60 days. We're booked on a cruise the same day as you but different itinerary.

There is zero chance this will sail. Don’t make a final payment - cancel now while you can still get your deposit back.

I used FCC to reserve it anyway, might as well let em cancel for me and get 25% extra

Katiecat-

I don't see anything on MY NCL about making a final payment or when it is due.

But I was officially notified by NCL about the change in final payment to 60 days prior to sailing.

It was obvious to me that they made this change to limit the number of passengers who might be entitled to a FCV.

Anyway, I would not be cancelling now.  I hope to sail.  Don't we all need to get away?

My due date for final payment is still showing Sept 17th for our Jan 16th cruise.

Katie, katie, katie....

May I call you Kat?

The President and CEO of NCL sent out a letter dated 7/29 that stated the 60 day payment policy.  Also for 2020 cruises, you may cancel up to 48 hours prior to sailing.

Ok Mikey I believe you😀 I just got off the phone with my group specialist. I pay in Nov for a Jan cruise and he feels very confident we will be sailing in the new year.

DH and I have a cruise the booked for the last week of November into December.  We have already had three cruises this year cancelled; one for March, July and October.  So, before we pay up again for another cruise, I am trying to decide if we should make the final payment in a few weeks.  What are your guesses on the chance of the cruise being cancelled?  Just wanting people to chime in their opinion, as I try to make this decision to pay possibly for another cruise that will not leave the port.  Thanks all!

Do you really think that cruising is going to be going those two weeks. If you do then don't cancel. If you don't think we will be cruising by then you should cancel.

We still have a 9 day southern caribbean  cruise booked for April on the Breakaway. I just checked and final payment is due in December. We will not be on that cruise whether it sails or not. We have no cash in this cruise as we used  2 cruisenext certificates for the deposit. The only reason we have not canceled yet is because there is a good chance that the cruise will be canceled for us and we may get some sort of future credit.

Why sink $4000 on a questionable cruise and have to fight to get our money back?

Nope. My sailing is for December 12, 2020 on Encore out of Miami. My due date was 8-14, I have only paid the $100 deposit. Mine still does not show an October due date. Going to let it ride and see what happens in October. But I will not give any additional money unless they make an official announcement that it will sail in December.

Well, I just checked online this morning & I also the checked the NCL App & both are now showing my 8/14/20 due date  as 10/13/20 due date for 12/12/20 Encore cruise.

We too just cancelled (yesterday) our Nov 28th 2020 Eastern Caribbean Cruise with RCCL Symphony of the Seas as our final payment was due this coming Monday, August 31st.

As others have said, it's very doubtful that any cruises will sail out of any US port for the remainder of this year...and possibly the first quarter of 2021.

We received a voucher.  RCCL stated we have until Dec 31 2021 to book.  Yet since we're cruising as a family, are finding very limited selections for 3 - 2 bedroom suites.  We're hoping we don't lose the $3K.

Stay safe and hopeful everyone.

If we get a good vaccine at end of year, I'll be more hopeful for my March 2021 cruise.   It's 100% paid by FCC from our cancelled April 2020 cruise so no worries about final payment there.

But, I think odds are much better for our May 2021 cruise.    Have awhile before that final payment is due.
