thistimeplease Posted September 20, 2020 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2020 I recently read where there is a anti cruising group called Stand.earth who have been asking for people to comment to the CDC regarding extending the cruise ban. Am very curious how this will work out. Here is the link to the Stand.earth group: https://www.stand.earth/SubmitCommentToCDC It appears that RCL is aware of this group as I'm sure the other cruiselines are as well: https://www.foxnews.com/travel/royal-caribbean-anticruise-cdc-comments-coronavirus I'm hoping cruising will begin soon but it looks like the cruiselines have a fight ahead.
hallux Posted September 20, 2020 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2020 So... A group with environmental concerns (valid or not I'm not one to comment) using COVID as a way to further their agenda? LOL, ok...
warburg Posted September 20, 2020 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2020 Greeting from South Beach, Everyone. I've noticed that environmental meddlers always want to deprive people of things. Mary 8
Laszlo Posted September 20, 2020 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2020 Not saying I agree with the group......But if it wasn't for environmental meddlers and others calling out the wrongs companies and governments have done over the decades the world would be a toxic dump 12
Buford T Justiice Posted September 20, 2020 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2020 Not sure what to believe at this point / these days. Or was this a cruise line funded / creation to "excite the base".
jotjot Posted September 21, 2020 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2020 Might be karma, for not letting me bring on my plastic water bottles.
CRZR58 Posted September 21, 2020 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2020 They're an environmental group, not an anti-cruising group.

I voiced my vote last week.

In this case they are off message and are going to be ignored. The CDC is asking for input on the virus. It is not the place of the CDC to decide if a cruise ship benefit to society exceeded its impact on the environment. They do have a valid concern, however a public health agency is the one to take the environment concern into consideration.

Rare graphicguy Posted September 28, 2020 #15 Share Posted September 28, 2020 (edited) These zealots can say whatever they want. Fact is, in order for the cruise industry overall to survive, they'll sail....regardless of any group who doesn't want them to. Case closed. CDC is such a mess now, with people quitting and those who are in charge having no authority anyway. Take any petition to the CDC to be taken with a grain of salt. Ships are already starting to sail again. So much for any petitions to the contrary. Edited September 28, 2020 by graphicguy
