Pacific Adventure / Pacific Encounter

Recommended Posts

So, some good news today according to the P&O Australia update released this morning regarding the, not unexpected, withdrawal of Pacific Dawn from the P&O Australia fleet.  When asked "When will Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter join the P&O Cruises Fleet, they answer that Pacific Adventure will join the fleet in December 2020 and Pacific Encounter in 2021.

I read that on P&O Facebook page and I thought that was very optimistic!

We will just have to wait and see if she does go in to dry dock in the next few months.

The following is from P&O AU website uploaded yesterday I think with the cancellation news.

Pacific Adventure will join the fleet in December 2020 and Pacific Encounter in 2021. The departure of Pacific Dawn will occur in the next few months and Pacific Aria in April 2021.

Significant developments in the fleet transformation are in sight for 2021 to form the base of the P&O fleet. By then, P&O’s guest capacity will be equivalent to what it was when we had a fleet of five smaller ships. For a short time during the fleet refresh program, capacity will be lower but we stress this is only a temporary situation.

The fleet transformation program will establish the base for P&O to better meet demand and exceed guest expectations. It is an exciting prospect with Pacific Explorer, Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter to establish the base for the future.

Pacific Explorer, Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter are the right size ships for our market as a foundation for growth and to enable P&O to meet demand and exceed guest expectations. They are also well suited for operation in the South Pacific.

Star Princess is one of the Grand Class ships and was only about 2 yrs old when we embarked her at Sydney in Feb 2004 and sailed on her to Darwin.  She created intense interest on that cruise due to her being one of the 'big ships' of the time.

She will go well here, I don't know what alterations are being made for P&O, hope they don't try and jam too many bunks on her.

Too old for the American Market, so toss her to the Aussies, again !!

Yes . Star caused quite a sensation on her first visit . I remember her first sail out from Auckland when the waterfront and Tamaki Drive came to a standstill as thousands turned out to watch and marvel at her size .

Indeed David, thousands came and saw here in Sydney as we embarked, big sailaway too.  Now she is 'just one of the medium sized ships, so to speak.  She would have been in Auckland in Feb 2004, on her way over to this region from USA?  We did the cruise as a sail/stay/rail package, after we disembarked in Darwin, did a week there on the tours etc, then the Ghan/Indian Pacific trains via Adelaide to Sydney, Star Princess sailed in the Asian region, showing the flag for Princess.
