With the Canary Islands now on the "safe" travel list from this weekend, Marella's restart cruises with Explorer in November look a little more realistic.

Have you seen the prices on the 'offers' page? Just looked for December one week in a JS for two £1525 WOW only problem flights are from Bournemouth. Still think it's a bit soon even though with our vouchers that would not cost us anything 🙄

Sheer concidence or what that its  just lifted in time for englands half term hols 😜

 

On the cruise side of things,not up to speed with logistics but guessing they,ll have their work cut out getting everything organised/prepared eg crew,entertainment etc in under a month for the first cruise on 17th November

Plus - who fancies confinement in a cylindrical tube, wearing face coverings in close proximity of other punters, for nearly 5 hours each way to join a ship ? ☹️

No specific mention of passengers in transit to join a cruise ship (that I could see) - but that would be an astonishing omission if so.

 

Opens a Pandora's Box for any poor soul that tests positive, God forbid.

I maybe out of touch but was under the impression that the Uk,s policy for a safe travel corridor was covid rate of 20 per 100,000,(Spain were removed at  27)?

 

Tenerife/Canaries is(or was)44 per 100,000

The infection rate in the Canary Islands is about 1/3 that of the Spanish mainland.

It was or still is UK policy that anyone with an infection rate of 20(or 20+) per 100,000 were placed on the quarantine list.

Done a wee bit research and it appears the UK gov have changed their policy to 100 per 100,000

TUI have now pulled all their November and early December cruises, first cruise now scheduled is 20th December with Explorer 2 out of Barbados.

Given the lockdown from thursday for England this was inevitable as all foreign travel prohibited apart from emergency or work as i understand it.

A little bit of good news today regarding the vaccine, I know it is still months away but it’s a chink of light toward the end of this horrible disease.🙏🏻

Marella have now given up trying to restart before the end of the year, restart now slated for early January.

Have a cruise booked on Explorer out of Tenerife on 02Mar2021, really hoping that that will still sail. This was booked before all this craziness started as a birthday celebration for DH, with sons and daughter travelling with us as a surprise.

TUI have now removed all the January sailings, first departure date is now 7th Feb.
