Geobugs Posted November 8, 2020 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2020 MSC says that I will have my 125% cruise credit Mid-December. Fast forward to January 1 when I want to book a cruise for April on MSC. Do I have to book through MSC or can I book via a travel agency? Can I use cruise credit for the deposit, fare, port charges and taxes? Or must I make a deposit via a credit card? cellfree Posted November 8, 2020 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2020 I called MSC and used my 125% amount on a new cruise, I did not need to put taxes/fees etc. on a credit card, I actually had funds leftover which I can use on another cruise. I expect you can work through a TA and use the 125%.

My experience is that if you received your FCC with a cruise booked with MSC you have to use MSC when booking a cruise with the FCC. I tried getting the FCC transferred to a TA and was unsuccessful. I have 2 FCCs; I must book by Dec 31st 2020 for a cruise in 2021with both of them. I have used one already and booked directly with MSC. I don't know if it can be done via a TA. I can't answer your questions re the deposit as my fare includes port charges and taxes, unlike in the US.

I have an FCC to use, and have been advised by my TA that I must book through them...being the agency who booked the cancelled cruise.

Rare Shippy Posted November 9, 2020 #7 Share Posted November 9, 2020 Luckily, we were able to use the agency we had originally booked the cancelled cruise through. Because they threw in gratuities & OBC.
Geobugs Posted December 16, 2020 Author #8 Share Posted December 16, 2020 (edited) UPDATE: MSC issued my Future Cruise Credit of 125% of the Cabin rate. My travel agent said that I must book through her agency. When I called MSC, they said that I could book through them. A follow up question: "If the new value is lower than the FCC’s value, your remaining balance can be used towards upgraded accommodations, enhancements to your onboard experience, shore excursions, shipboard credits and more." I don't need upgraded accommodation. What are these enhancements to your onboard experience? Drink packages? Shore excursion; This is self explanatory. Shipboard credits; Can this be used towards the daily service charges? Onboard shopping? And More; What is this? What about Casino chips? I believe, not sure because MSC seems to change their mind, that if you do not use all the FCC you can convert it to on OBC. Be patient and MSC seems to work it out eventually. Geobugs Posted December 16, 2020 Author #11 Share Posted December 16, 2020 I have rebooked for April on Meraviglia. The MSC CSR said the balance would be applied to onboard credit and could be applied to the daily service charge. I will ask again to see that in writing. The head of Port Canaveral was on the local news last night trashing the CDC, saying the red tape they have placed on the cruise industry makes it "unreasonable" for any ship to sail. I now believe the cruise lines are going to wait for everyone to be vaccinated. Realistically looking at re-starting maybe May (this is from a friend that works for Norwegian). I hope you do make it. On the USA site it says that any monetary difference would be given as a future FCC, my previous post is how the UK deal with it.

Waiting for "everyone" to be vaccinated will put them out of business plus not everyone wants the magic vaccine.

They don't have any choice. The CDC has made it impossible to operate. I really underestimated their vindictiveness. I should know better. The vaccine is the only hope now. I hear what you say but there is no need for a vaccine for a virus that is over 99% survivable by the majority of people. If the people of the USA refuse the vaccine at some point pressure will be brought to bear on the CDC and heads will roll.

Not in the bureaucracy. The Bureaucracy is now running this country. They just overthrew a President. Agree, it is very sad. Back to 125% FCC - I had booked a cruise for February 2021 with our 125% from an earlier cancellation and was told the excess FCC I had could eventually be used on another cruise once my February sailing was complete. Well we all know February 2021 is now cancelled so am waiting for another FCC and what my excess from February 2021 that was sitting there will look like.
