Is there any sign of the Captain’s Club changes, yet?

Here is a summary of the changes:

Downgrades:

  • Removed Priority embarkation
  • Removed Access to the Retreat for Zenith
  • Removed Senior Officers Party
  • Removed the Backstage Tour
  • Removed Elegant Tea
  • Removed the nightly cocktail party - remaining benefit worthless under Always Included
  • Negated value of the daily coffee lounge
  • Negated value of the specialty coffee in specialty restaurant
  • Negated value of the free specialty coffee package for elite plus
  • Negated value of the free internet minutes and discounts
  • Removed free fitness class for Elite Plus

Upgrades:

  • Improved the spa discount - now multi use
  • Increased discounts on photo packages
  • Increased the discount on premium wines
  • Added "Sneak Peek of Wonder" (only on the Apex)
  • Added the "Create and Pour" event (only on Edge class)
  • Added discounted $35 dry clean and press package

For me, as an elite member, the only perk which remains that I value is the free bag of laundry.
I will miss all of the removed perks, and I genuinely do not care about any of the upgrades.
I resent Celebrity for jacking up the prices and doing almost nothing to keep my loyalty.

I appreciate that they are losing money in these tough times.  But discouraging the most loyal customers from staying loyal, by taking away perks that were not very expensive - yet very effective at keeping people loyal to your brand - it seems like a really bad move.

They used to have the best loyalty program in the business, and now, it is almost worthless.

It is fairly obvious that the Corporate take on all of this is:

1)  Get as many previous and loyal cruisers to bail (for us, check.)

2)  Raise the prices to ridiculous levels by adding things many do not want (for us, check).

3)  Put all your eggs into absurdly overpriced suite cabins and the ethereal "younger with lots of disposable income" cruiser (check).

Like Arizona Wildcat says, it was a great run.  30 =X= cruises and thoroughly enjoyed almost every one.  Time to pass the torch to the new generation after our 1 final sailing in Asia next winter.

And I say it for the rude ones (often with a whopping 2 sailings to their name) that seem to always pop up with the "SEEYA!"

What about the Captains Club celebration? If the senior officers party is gone is that gone too?

FAQ says:  New health and safety standards required us to rethink some of our event offerings, which gave us a chance to get creative. We’ve developed new experiences just for you, like reimagined welcome parties and a special event where you’ll get to be the artist.

Welcome parties will now take place in stunning outdoor spaces, like the Lawn Club and Rooftop Garden. As always, your captain and executive committee will be there to welcome you back with a special toast. More welcome events are underway, so be sure to stay tuned for updates.
