lindylooellalouise Posted November 26, 2020 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2020 Hi can’t believe my TA has mixed up our bookings and payments again, the Iona cruise on 6 March which was cancelled only yesterday Our travel agent phoned us to request payment after we had the email cancellation from P&O they claimed they hadn’t been notified. I had already requested a refund from P&O via the website, the TA phoned last night and said we had already used the FCC on our booking for the Arcadia in Oct 22 we made two weeks ago confused as how we could have used a FCC from a cruise that hadn’t yet been cancelled, I do realise that it’s been a complicated process for everyone and we have had many cruises cancelled and rebooked this year but this has really convinced me only to book direct in the future. We don't use a TA any more. Cut out the middleman. Send three and fourpence we're going to a dance.
lindylooellalouise Posted November 26, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted November 26, 2020 Never never will we again, we still have 5 cruises booked in 2021 with this agent would it be possible to ask the cruise companies if we could change and go direct? Jennizor Posted November 26, 2020 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2020 I had a similar experience. I had an email from P&O a couple of months ago saying that our February cruise on Iona had been cancelled and that we could have a refund of our deposit or FCC credit. I took the FCC and booked the same cruise for Feb 22. Last week I had a phone call from our TA saying that unless I paid the balance for 21 that day I would likely lose the cruise. They were quite taken aback when I told them the cruise was cancelled.
Jennizor Posted November 26, 2020 #5 Share Posted November 26, 2020 In my case I don’t think it was a bad TA but P&O not communicating correctly. We have had some brilliant deals with our Scottish TA and would not hesitate using them again.
lindylooellalouise Posted November 26, 2020 Author #6 Share Posted November 26, 2020 Still trying to get my head round how 2 weeks ago I’ve used a FCC for a cruise that hadn’t been cancelled till yesterday

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. I know you can transfer a direct booking to an agent, but don't know about . I guess if the had already paid commission, probably not.

We asked PandO that question a few months ago. The answer was no. Same TA as yours. No harm in asking again though, they might have revisited their response in the light of adverse feedback that TA.
Britboys Posted November 26, 2020 #9 Share Posted November 26, 2020 Not all TA's are the same. I've been using a well-known cruise specialist agency for many years without any problems.

However good she is, I'm not sure I'd pay money to an individual person living in Spain for a holiday with a UK company.
majortom10 Posted November 26, 2020 #14 Share Posted November 26, 2020 In these current times I would never use any TA that wasnt ABTA bonded or ATOL if including flights.

Definitely not!! A lot of these travel agents and cruise specialists use a team of home workers, so this lady who lives in Spain could possibly work for a large company. The agent I use has home workers all over the place, they have to build a reputation for themselves but they are fully bonded because they are employed by the main company.
