What does a PCC do?

I just got an email from an NCL Personal Cruise Consultant.  I guess that means I've made the big time?  lol.

I just... don't understand what their purpose is?  Right now, I book/pay online, I make changes by calling NCL (flight deviations, cabin changes, etc...) and make dinner reservations on MyNCL.

Which of these would I be better off emailing my PCC for?  Any of them?  Something else entirely?

What's their value-add in this process?

From my limited experience using a PCC, the added value is their knowledge of NCL and the ships in selecting a cabin.  It's near impossible, for example, to identify available connecting cabins on the NCL website, but they have that visibility.  And from experience, not all available connecting rooms are evident on the web.  Beyond such knowledge, their pricing is no different than that on the web and they cannot add perks like a TA can.  I've used mine to book the best cabin for my cruise desires and then within 30 days transferred the reservation to my TA to add on the perks they can offer.  The PCC still gets the booking credit in that case.

Not much value at all. They are like a general reservation agent. They supposedly will "take care of you" along with thousands of other customers that have been assigned to them. They can sell what you see online. If you're looking for promos and perks, you should book with a travel agent (warehouse stores tend to offer a lot of perks because they have such a high volume of bookings).

for years, i booked my ncl cruises through casinos at sea. one fine day i got a call from an ncl cruise consultant. i asked her if using her services would provide any different benefits than if i just continued booking on my own.

although there really is no appreciable difference, when i tried to book on my own, sometimes it took over an hour to get through, then if you got disconnected, you needed to start the entire process over again. some  of the people i had to deal with thru casinos at sea, didnt have the brains of an eggplant.

happily, however, my cruise consultant usually answers the phone, and if not, returns my call within the hour. it's just a little more convenient to have her. if i need to change cabins, she can do it immediately, of course, i make her  job a lot easier because when i call, i usually have the ship, cabin, itinerary all planned out and all she needs to do is formally book it.

so ultimately, you can probably do this all on your own, but its just a step saver

In the U.K. the NCL PCC are based in Malta, they have more knowledge of rooms and are quite candid, I’ve learnt more from ours than any travel agent, also U.K. travel agents tend not to sign up for upgrade advantage.

I have used a PCC at NCL for my last few cruises. She has been a great help with some issues that have popped up. Recently I booked a cruise for 2023, she was able to get NCL to let me use a Cruisenext certificate for the cruise even though it was due to expire this year (2021), also we had some credits from a previous year (also de to expire in 2021) that they will honor.

Like other TA's she has given us advice on cabins, places to stay etc.

If you are not happy with a TA feel free to check others out. Personally I have used some of the big ones and have had mixed results (twice with the same person great, once they gave me someone else and not so good)
