I would certainly do so (love to get a deal) - but being Canadian, the process does not work well for us (learned from past experience).

The gift cards are in USD and if to be used to pay off the cruise - the cruise must be booked in USD.  This causes ripple problems for Canadian cruisers, as now, you can't make the booking yourself directly on the Princess website - but must call and do it over the phone. And if you book in USD, you  can't apply your FCDs if you purchased them in Canadian funds.  So it takes away one financial advantage to afford another.  So unfortunately, I will pass.  But yes - I would go for it if it worked better for us.

It's OBC. It goes into the pool and you can use it anywhere despite what they say.

In the past I would have jumped on this when I got the email. Not these days. I'm already sitting on a truckload of Princess gift cards. They aren't much use if one can't cruise.

Since you have to buy $1000 worth, that is a lot to apply as OBC once onboard. With so many people purchasing Princess+ which includes the beverage package, gratuities and Internet and with pre-booked shore excursions having to be paid for before the cruise, it is not that easy to spend the $1000 OBC for something you really want.
