mamaofami Posted February 4, 2021 #26 Share Posted February 4, 2021 Good morning everyone. Temps in the 30s today, a virtual warm day for now. I love duct tape because it always does the job. Our mailman is OK, but we never see him or her. They deliver to a cluster of mailboxes around the complex. What’s not OK is our post office. When we were in Florida the first year some of our mail never got forwarded. Ditto for our friends from here, so I set up automatic payments for all our recurring bills to solve that problem. congrats to all of you who have been able to get the vaccine. Today I have a virtual appointment with an infectious disease MD to see if I can take it. I got Bells Palsey twice from flu shots several years apart. An infectious disease specialist in PEnn Medicine where my son works told me to wait till more info is around and to just stay safe. Ditto for my Neurologist in NY. My Penn Medicine MD told me to take it. My internist said I’m the only one in her practice she can’t advise and to speak to the infectious MD I will speak to today and do whatever he says since he’s some kind of God. All very confusing to me. Our governor is relaxing rules for NJ and allowing indoor dining, religious gatherings up to 125 people, etc. conditions are bad in Jersey so I don’t understand it. But, I don’t make the rules. My grandson in LA is looking for long term parking for his car and coming back home this weekend. This car has been a source of never ending problems. His parents are encouraged him to sell it back to the car place and lease when he gets back. Our cousin lives in a huge home in LA and he’s going to see if he can leave it there. Stay safe everyone and double mask. Good luck to all who are getting the vaccine and to those trying to get an appointment which includes my DH. Sorry for rambling on today. cunnorl Posted February 4, 2021 #27 Share Posted February 4, 2021 Good Morning from a cool but sunny day here at the beach. Love stuffed mushrooms, dont particularly care for kale. It is a very sobering reminder about Anne Frank and her family. Today is Thursday so it is golf day! Hope it warms up just a bit. I like to play when it is above 60. Otherwise I have to bundle up and cant swing! LOL Stay safe and wear your mask. Think happy thoughts of sailing again soon.

kplady Posted February 4, 2021 #35 Share Posted February 4, 2021 Duct tape is an amazing tool, but not the only one needed: Duct tape is good for when things move and they shouldn't; WD-40 is good for when things don't move and they should. Just my thoughts! Laura 8
St. Louis Sal Posted February 4, 2021 #36 Share Posted February 4, 2021 “WD-40, duct tape, and a hammer. If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use the duct tape. If either doesn't work, use the hammer.” Good Morning all! Always enjoy the drink recipes and wine info. Love the sound of a Blue Lagoon, kool-aid for adults. As for those wine descriptions, I have attended more HAL wine tastings than I can count. You would think I would have a very educated palate by now, but I do not. I never taste any of those things they describe. So I swirl the wine in my glass, observe it’s color, nod my head knowingly and think, “it tastes like...wine.” Thanks to everyone who shares in the Daily to brighten our day, make us think, make us laugh. My blood glucose doesn't like pasta very much. But, for those who can handle it, the recipe is here: https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/bucatini-with-sausage-kale/ Stay safe, everyone. That light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and no, it isn't a train! I might try this with zoodles instead of pasta. Overhead Fred Posted February 4, 2021 #38 Share Posted February 4, 2021 Thanks for the shoutout about the kittens, Roy. But to clarify, they reside at our son's house. Luckily, he is less than 10 minutes away from our place so we can visit them frequently. @mamaofami - very sorry about your friend. It is currently snowing in MN, so I was looking at some Arizona pictures to try to chase it away. Here is one of the many cacti that grew in my parents yard in Green Valley, AZ -

VintageGeo Posted February 4, 2021 #43 Share Posted February 4, 2021 Good morning, all. Thank you for the Daily. So very sorry to hear of your friend, @mamaofami. Last week the county opened up a drive thru vac site, finally. And we are told that some pharmacies in the area will start giving shots next week, but there will be no increase in supply. The last two weeks we have received 7,000 doses for a county of over 500,000 so even though we have officially moved to phase two, which was to include all those over 65, so far it is only down to 80 and over. Eventually, perhaps... This morning it is 35 with wind gusts over 40 mph. After a nice day tomorrow the temps are to drop into the 6 degree range by the first of next week. Good time to stay in and think warm thoughts, like flying into Ft. Lauderdale a year ago this evening (after some discussion about the new virus we'd been hearing of), for our Panama Canal cruise on the lovely Oosterdam. We so appreciate this little community and the sharing of wishes, thoughts, humor, and memories and the positivity and support that is so abundant here. It is a respite, to be sure. Be safe and healthy and we'll come through this better for the experience. Have a great day! Lori & George

durangoscots Posted February 4, 2021 #45 Share Posted February 4, 2021 Bright and sunny here today.... but cold. We are supposed to have a warming trend the next week or so. I hope so although I know we still need more moisture. Last night we did light rain to top off our snow. No reaction to the jab for me, except for a somewhat sore arm. In about 2 weeks they will send me a list of available times so I can schedule my 2nd. It all went very smoothly.... I think we have gotten better organized.... my poor sister is still waiting. I will be sooooo glad when things get better. I badly need my hair done. Right now I am somewhere between Cousin It (or did he spell that with two ts?) and Boris Johnson.
