That was a wonderful 13 days, and we planned on doing the reverse itinerary this October, but of course it's been cancelled, so we're booked on the October 2022 sailing. I hope you and the kids are all safe & healthy. Edited February 18, 2021 by CineGraphic

Don’t know what happened, & can’t delete it. Technically challenged I guess. Oh well, it’s a nice photo, I promise!

The boys haven’t been at university since before Christmas as all lectures have been online - unfortunate as they are physics and chemistry students and haven’t been in the labs 😪 (one is performing laser experiments remotely from his bedroom which I personally find fascinating 😊). We’re just considering about what to book for 2022 as we feel cruising may be back on the cards by that point. We loved that east coast cruise but feel we may have to stay closer to home for the foreseeable future, until things are up and running.
jondfk Posted February 20, 2021 #33 Share Posted February 20, 2021 A year ago today we finished packing up and started our way to San Francisco to board Grand Princess. She sailed on February 21 on a planned 15 day RT to Hawaii. We had a lovely voyage out to the islands and memorable stops on Kauai and the Big Island. We were sent to cabins for quarantine mid day on day #12 with the ship diverted from Ensenada direct to San Francisco. After nearly 6 days of cabin confinement we boarded the second to last bus sent to Travis where we spent 14 further days in quarantine. Fortunately, we never got COVID (or at least never developed severe symptoms, who knows really). We arrived home 33 days after we boarded Grand. At the time California was under full lockdown but it's amazing how liberating stay at home orders feel after being fenced in with little to no control over your circumstance. We are grateful for many things including the fact that we didn't develop Covid and didn't lose our lives as a couple of our shipmates did. Mostly we are grateful for getting a caring and compassionate care team from the CDC (we will never forget Bill & Kat, reservists called up from NY & CT - they provided medical assistance and oversight at Travis and went miles out of their way to find us luxuries such as TP, and towels). Though Princess failed us in many respects, we will cruise again, and will even do so with Princess (in fact we're booked again on Grand in early '22). We learned many lessons which will undoubtedly inform all future travel. Mostly though we learned the lengths friends and strangers will go to support you in a time of need, a true blessing. Thanks to all who looked after and cared for us. 4
