Tedferg Posted May 11, 2021 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2021 We are looking at April 2022, Sydney to Hawaii on Eclipse - have only sailed Celebrity once. 1) The only dining option is Late - 8:00. We prefer Anytime. 8:00 would be a deal breaker. What are chances to change this on board ? 2) Verandah option shown is Mid Ship deck 6 - looks good, options on decks 7 - 9 go up by a few hundred dollars per deck, not a lot of money but wonder about your preferences for these decks. Auntiemomo Posted May 11, 2021 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2021 Chances are good for changing once you get on board. Go directly to the dining room as it's first come, first served. We're taking Eclipse on to Vancouver on 4 May, and we have a stateroom on Deck 6, by the aft elevators. I wouldn't pay extra to go up a deck or two. I prefer a stateroom in the vicinity of the aft elevators -- up to the lawn club, and down to the martini bar and dining.
Rare Turtles06 Posted May 11, 2021 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2021 1. Are you able to get on a waitlist now for Select dining (Celebrity's name for "anytime" dining)? If so, do it. Also, it's a long way to April 2022, so if you book, keep touching base with Celebrity or your TA re anything opening up. Select dining is very popular. 2. All of Deck 6 is over public spaces on Deck 5, some of which may generate noise. I personally prefer to have cabins above and below me and wouldn't book on Deck 6 if I had other options, but YMMV. I would also check into the locations where smoking is allowed, as, in the past, smoking has been allowed on the port side of Deck 5, outside of the mid-ship elevators and the forward elevators. If that was still the case on the most recent pre-pandemic cruises, I would not want to be on the port side of Deck 6 for that reason alone.
jelayne Posted May 11, 2021 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2021 Many of the cabins on Deck 6 are obstructed view cabins. So you may want to select a few that you would be interested in and then check the S Class cabin sticky to see if the cabins are included on the spreadsheet. As for Select dining, in the past we have been waitlisted for Select dining and cleared the waitlist before sailing. The unknown is what will happen when cruising restarts. scidee Posted May 11, 2021 #5 Share Posted May 11, 2021 We have often sailed on deck 6. and will be in March. Even though the cabins are listed obstructed we have not found them to really block our view. You many look at a portion of a lifeboat when looking down or a piece of crane. But we find it no big deal. We also like to availability to aft elevators and stairs to decks 4 & 5 for dining, bars and casino. Getting changed to Select dining has never been a problem. You can also book times for select dining on "manage reservation" before you sail. We like 7:45 just after the early show!
jalves Posted May 11, 2021 #6 Share Posted May 11, 2021 Good advice above. I'd just add that you may be placing too much emphasis on the second seating issue. The cruise is ~18 nights? And many, many time zones away. Your body won't know know when its time to eat. ;)
Tedferg Posted May 11, 2021 Author #7 Share Posted May 11, 2021 (edited) Thanks for inputs, I now see an option to join waitlist for dining. Does Celebrity site allow you to save a cruise you are contemplating ? Using the spreadsheet would the same cabin number be the same on all S class ships? Is there a benefit to angled cabins on bump out ? Edited May 11, 2021 by Tedferg
wrk2cruise Posted May 11, 2021 #8 Share Posted May 11, 2021 Eclipse, Solstice and Equinox the cabin numbers are the same. The Silhouette and Reflection are different. The balconies on the slant of the hump are much deeper than regular ones. The first and third from the hump are the deepest. Some people complain the deeper cabins make the cabin dark and cave like. I like these cabins.
