RetiredRich Posted June 4, 2021 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2021 Flying in the night before a August 28 cruise and staying in a motel near Sea Tac airport. Thinking about using shuttle express over a taxi to get to the port. Getting too old to handle heavy luggage and have hernia also. Will also need transport from port to airport after cruise. Best ideas ???

Best ideas ??? We are staying the night before our cruise at the Hampton on 28th by the airport and they offer a shuttle to the pier for $15. For return to airport after cruise we are using Holland's transfer

jakers Posted June 4, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 4, 2021 (edited) I received an email from Seattle Express today: We are going to be operational this year but just for straight transfers from the Sea-Tac hotels to the ships and from the ships to the Sea-Tac Airport or hotels. We are currently not going to be offering any pre or post cruise tours. If we do start up the tours I will let you know. Thank you, Matt Schmer Seattle Express Edited June 4, 2021 by jakers misspelling
jakers Posted June 4, 2021 #6 Share Posted June 4, 2021 We have used Seattle Express several times in the past. Once, they even sent a limo for us when they overbooked. It takes about 45 minutes to get to the dock from SeaTac hotels depending on where you are at on the pick up list. After the cruise they will take you back to the airport or SeaTac hotels. In the past they have published a list of the hotels from which they do pickups.

Best ideas ??? We have booked Fairfield Inn Downtown, reasonable rate, near the space needle. Plan to take the commuter train from the airport which ends near the hotel. From the hotel to the port use uber or cab. If you are going to Seattle I would recommend staying downtown if possible. After cruise we plan to take cab to the commuter train stop and take train to airport. We have done this before and it worked well.
NavArch64 Posted June 4, 2021 #8 Share Posted June 4, 2021 You mean the Sound Transit Light Rail I would guess. If you have no mobility issues, works great. We have used it many times.
NavArch64 Posted June 4, 2021 #9 Share Posted June 4, 2021 (edited) If you are VERY adventurous, the Seattle Bus #24/#33 can take you between Downtown and Pier 91 where Nieuw Amsterdam will be berthed, with a stop on Magnolia Bridge, that is within walking distance of the HAL Cruise Terminal. BUT, there are stairs involved on Magnolia Bridge to get to/from ground level. We have done it once (inbound on Oosterdam the morning after she hit Nieuw Amsterdam at Canada Place) ... The Fairfield is just over 1/2 mile from the closest light rail station from the airport, Westlake. Not a bad walk but it may be inconvenient schlepping luggage. From Westlake you could catch the Monorail to the Seattle Center which would be about ¼ mile from your hotel. Although there are several hotels that have “Downtown” in their titles, they’re not actually downtown. Although the Fairfield is kind of close to the Seattle Center, the area is a bit funky with not much going on, hence the good rate.

Lived in downtown Seattle from 3 months. Yes it is a little off the main downtown but walkable to the market in the morning. Price is write and it is close to the port. We went to the Market today and had lunch at the Alibi Room. It was packed with people. Nice to see Seattle is getting back to normal.
