MSEm Posted June 9, 2021 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2021 Some men will wear a sports coat to dinner, but most will not wear a sport coat nor a tie. My husband usually takes a sports coat when we travel in cooler destination cruises such as British Isle or Midnight Sun. At dinner if the temperature is cool, he wears the sport coat. During the day he wears a vest. To wear or not to wear a sports coat or tie is your choice. Enjoy your Viking cruise.
Heidi13 Posted June 9, 2021 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2021 I brought a jacket and a couple of ties, but don't recall actually wearing them in 4 months.
Squawkman Posted June 9, 2021 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2021 I brought a jacket for my first Viking river cruise (2015) as we went with 2 other “experienced” couples and they said bring one for dinner. Never again. Maybe 5% of men were wearing a jacket - and our table stood out with all 3 of us wearing jackets.
philw1776 Posted June 9, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 9, 2021 No jacket required. Another reason I prefer Viking over otherwise excellent 2nd choice Silversea for cruising.
Jim Avery Posted June 9, 2021 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2021 Even though not required I have taken a Navy sport coat and slacks on WCs. Several special events with the senior officers that I just felt better dressed a bit. Then there is always Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. Even saw a couple of tuxedos last WC.🍸 Bond, James Bond....😎
