Just to start a new thread. What are your favorite things to do on the first day of the cruise.? Mine are to first get a guy's burger,, a Drink of the day,

even though I really do not like them, but hey, we are on a cruise, then off to explore the ship, and see all the places I want to go and see while on

the cruise.

Happy hour @ Red Frog Pub.  1/2 price fishbowls.

Wife gets a Guy's burger.  I go for BBQ or Wok- the lines are usually short.

Forgot about half price on fishbowls, and last time on Breeze, half price on a case of beer to

take to the cabin.

We will be on our first cruise and trying to determine what to do. Everything may hinge on when we get to board really. We have FTTF but not sure it will be available when we cruise. Our plan was to hit Pig and Anchor for some BBQ (if no lines). After that, up to the Lido deck to check on our room, have a cocktail, enjoy some relaxing time. Do the e-muster thing in our room and unpack, check-in for that when complete, and back to the Lido deck for sail away. We don't plan on MDR the first night because I think we will bouncing around all over the ship.

Once you get on the ship, find a server on lido and tip them like 10 bucks on your first drink. Later, when the casino opens, rinse and repeat. You will get amazing drinks the rest of the cruise from them

Grab lunch and then straight in the pool for a few hours until the crowds get there.

I hope they still do that on these start up cruises.  But, we are on the Horizon and it doesn't have the Red Frog Pub.  Only the Red Frog Bar on lido.  Would be nice if they had one bar that did the 1/2 price Happy Hour especially on the case of beer.

Absolutely if it’s a new ship to us.  Usually takes 2-3 days to stop going the wrong way off the elevator to our room.

My fear on the Mardi Gras, new ship, have to learn where the best places to go are.

do carnival ships have a direction indicator in the hallways?

On NCL, the carpet design is fish swimming towards the bow, Disney has fish on the cabin doors pointing to the bow

Even though we no longer drinks with alcohol, we still give the extra big tip.  Same with our Cabin Steward …. Big tip first day of cruise. And 99% of the time we give extra the final day. 😁

ONE time on a 4 day Inspiration cruise we didn’t meet our Cabin person till the last night. I think they were just super busy doing cabins. We always had a clean cabin, fresh towels, turndown etc … just didn’t get to meet the guy doing the hard work. It was a fluke. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Get on the ship (it will be the Panorama for me). Find a table at either Blue Iguana or the Buffet and get some lunch.  Get a cocktail to go with lunch.  Sit back and think "oh, it feels goooooooooood to be on a ship again."  Then go explore!  We've got a whole new ship to discover - yaaaaaay!

I’ve not seen those indicators on Carnival.  Only room # ranges (like hotels).  Obviously if you take the same set of elevators/stairs each time it is easier to navigate.

Board as early as possible

Stake out a nice place in the shade to eat and watch everyone else board

Once Cabins open up, drop off Carry-ons and unpack

Explore ship until Dinner Time

Watch the Welcome Aboard show

Stop at the first bar (used to be the 10-story atrium bar) and have a cold one. Drop off carry-ons in the cabin. Meet my stewards, explain I'm a bachelor and used to taking care of my cabin by myself, so want them to consider my cabin a 20 minute break. Burgers or buffet, whichever is easiest. If a new ship, get the layout before the crowds come aboard.
