Huge Price Drop August 1st Horizon Sailing

Have had my eye or Horizon sailings in August for awhile. I noticed today that there was a huge price drop. For an inside Havana room pricing dropped over $1,100 for the cruise. Offer code is PLH "exclusive vifp offer." It is listed as non refundable cruise fare. Any catches here? The only thing that sticks out to me in the non refundable cruise fare. But being it is this close and full payment is due arent all cruises basically non refundable cruise fare after final payment? I tried to keep up with all things cruising but have been to busy lately. Is this cruise likely to happen? I am assuming it would be a fully vaccinated cruise? Thanks for any help

Tried to find that August 1 you referenced, unable to, I would be happy to grab a last minute cruise with a price drop, our next booked cruise isn't until November 2021.

Well, just checking it out, and a 6-day cruise has rates as low as $300 pp (plus port fees and taxes) for a balcony (I assume guarantee), which is redonkulously cheap, IME.

EDIT: and for giggles, I checked out Magic out of PC in Aug.  You can book a balcony for a 5-day cruise for $180 pp + plus fees/taxes.  Zoinks!  I thought I got a great seal on a specific balcony (those long bowling alley balconies) for just over $1000 all in for a two-person 5-day cruise in Sept, but dang!

I could and have driven in the past but I am over that 18hr drive lol We would be flying in. Is the plan to start Horizon in July or is the August 1st sailing the first cruise? Maybe thats why prices are so cheap. With my work schedule and job a lot of planning goes into our vacation. Would suck for something to happen which is why I have held off on booking.......but at those prices....?

Yeah those prices for August are un heard of. We usually have to sail in August because my wife is a teacher and run a program during her summer months. In my 20 years of cruising dont think I have seen prices that low in August.

I dont see those $300pp balconys so I'm wondering if those are casino rates?

Mine has is list at special VIFP rate. I dont spend in money in the casino so I doubt its that. Maybe a rate for someone who currently doesnt have anything booked?

Last week I just booked for Sept 2021, plus we have two other cruises booked for well after that, so I think it is just pseudo-random.

We just picked up a Havana Cabana on this sailing for $750pp with VIFP and Casino rates.  I also booked airfare, so fingers crossed everything goes well.  I made sure to book with Southwest so at least there won't be a change fee.

Good luck I need to see if I can talk my wife into it.

Those aren't general public rates or general VIFP rates, so some kind of targeted marketing.

You're right, I went back and looked and it was "last minute" travel deal.  We very often do book last minute, so maybe they were targeting us that way, but that rate was not available without my VIFP and casino info.

We have way too much going on (or potentially going on) with work and other personal travel, and other commitments, otherwise I'd jump on another cruise to pair up with our Sept booking.

Annoyingly, if I had received this offer I could have gone with a "regular" balcony and saved about $500, according to a mock booking I just did.  Oh well, the extra space will be nice.  And I probably wouldn't have received this offer without making that other recent booking.  Who knows how the algorithm is written.

I got an email from Carnival Friday morning and almost had to run home to change my shorts when I saw the price. As soon as the wife hit home I showed her what was on the website and we decided to go for it.  Balcony cabin (our first ever) for $300 each.  Add in taxes, port charges, trip insurance and the whole package was about a grand. An offer I simply could not pass up. So we are on the Horizon out of Miami on August 1st.  We really need this vacation so I hope the CDC and /or the governor of FLA doesn’t screw this up!! It’s worth the risk and if for some reason the cruise gets cancelled then I will find out how big my balls are driving all those bridges down to Key West!!!

I imagine at this price its going to book up pretty fast. Wish my wife would make up her mind!
