UNIQUE TWO-IN-ONE DINING CONCEPT OFFERING BOTH CHINESE AND MEXICAN CUISINES TO DEBUT ABOARD NEW MARDI GRAS

June 29, 2021

Highly Anticipated Ship Set to Debut from Port Canaveral July 31

MIAMI, June 29, 2021 – Carnival Cruise Line’s new Mardi Gras will feature the widest variety of culinary outlets in the fleet, with more than two dozen different venues, including Chibang!, a new two-in-one dining concept featuring both Chinese and Mexican dishes.

Responding to guests’ feedback for more diverse dining choices on board, particularly Chinese and Mexican cuisine, Chibang! is part of an expanded list of dining options created just for Mardi Gras.

For a limited time only, Chibang! as well as popular options Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse and Cucina del Capitano – all of which normally carry a dinner-time reservations fee or a la carte pricing – will be included in the price of the cruise, in addition to the Palm and Flamingo dining rooms and the Lido buffet.

“Mardi Gras is truly a game-changing ship and that, of course, includes her amazing dining options which offer our guests a broad spectrum of cuisines from around the world,” said Cyrus Marfatia, Carnival’s vice president of culinary and dining.  “Mardi Gras is such an incredible ship that we wanted to offer guests a limited time opportunity to enjoy some of her new and most popular specialty restaurants at no charge,” he added.

Chibang! is named after the Mandarin word for wing and features two distinctly separate menus, each offering a diverse selection of authentic Chinese and Mexican cuisines allowing guests to craft their perfect meals.

From Far East delicacies like Singapore Chili  Shrimp, Slow-Braised Pork Belly, and Kung Pao Chicken to Carnitas Tacos, Pollo en Mole and Pescado Frito and other South of the Border favorites, Chibang!’s dining experience will be enhanced by dramatic interiors featuring deep red and green décor with gold accents that pay homage to both cultures.

Floor to ceiling windows that run the length of the restaurant provide magnificent sea views while a colorful dragon greets diners as they enter the restaurant.

The beverage selection will be just as varied with selections including the Chibang! Margarita made with blood orange syrup, the Smokey Mezcal Negroni that’s a twist on the Italian classic and a Green Tea Martini made with Shochu.

Chibang!, Cucina del Capitano and Smokehouse Brewhouse will also offer  complimentary breakfast and lunch menus, as well.

The first North American cruise ship powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), Mardi Gras is set to debut from Port Canaveral, Fla., July 31, 2021, operating week-long itineraries from the Space Coast.

Is the margarita free too? That would add to the popularity, though so many of us have cheers included.

Agreed! Hope it’s still around for my September sailing.

Well this is exciting.  Hopefully the "limited time" will still be in effect for my August 28th cruise.  I regularly ate at Cucino during the no charge lunch, but I loved their dinner menu.  Not sure if it has changed, but they had a steak that was fabulous - better to me than the steaks at the Steakhouse.

Cucina is always on and free for lunch.  chibang?????

Huge difference between the lunch and dinner at Cucina.  Huge difference.  The dinner will not be free for a limited time - normally $15.  Way better than that lunch and totally difference experience and menu.

dang carnival can't you add "tofu" to the protein section!!!!

They have Tofu for dinner.  Let guest services know ahead of the cruise and they might be able to have some for you for their lunch option.

"Not be free" or "now be free"?
