Clemson if you run into John H or Christen D can you ask why the webcams are off ? Do they know when they will be back on ? sorry if i missed it have been trying to stay current on this post.

I think they're off to prevent CDC snoops from seeing things they can't find on their own.

But that was the point Firefly333 was trying to explain I think. Yes, today they kinda let the protocols slide in the terminal for embarkation most likely because the ship was empty but next week when they are trying to disembark passengers and embark passengers at the same time they are going to have to be more stringent on who shows up and gets processed at specific times.

Regardless of whether there were people disembarking or not there were still too many people in the terminal for social distancing. Which is what I thought the point of it was.

Are the coin pusher machines still in the casino? I was wondering if they wouldn't want people handling those quarters.

Yes!   One of my favorites.  There isn’t any S coins to complete the bonus though.  I haven’t come across the machines that have the tokens for free cocktail, hat, shirt, etc.  I have a free cocktail one from a previous cruise to use.

Another casino question (perhaps it's already come up) - is there limited seating/spacing at table games? Are there any barriers or dividers? Normal chip/cash handling being used?

Tom

No minimum seating, no dividers.  Everything is as it was pre Covid.

Is any of the staff masked?

How about passengers?

All of the staff are masked.  They are wearing buttons with their picture, so you can see their face.

passengers aren’t required to wear masks.  There are a few that do

I watched a blog with Sharon at sea on the vista and she said that so many people asked for the paper fun times at guests services desk that they ran out - they did not print enough.  Hopefully carnival made a note of that and maybe they will bring back delivery to stateroom in future.

That’s a great idea.  I have a hard enough time recognizing folks. I always remembered by room steward and greeted them in passing as they always greeted us by name.  Would be so much harder with a mask.

I'm sure they will. There will be growing pains and constant changes while they fire this all back up.

Think about how many of these people had been doing it day in day out for months or years on end and were in a solid groove....then it all stopped.

So teams are likely switched up a bit, teams broken up, many didn't come back, on and on...

They will first need to find their footing and then their groove

I hope they are able to tweak all of these things by the time I cruise in August.  I definitely want a paper copy of the fun times every day.  Maybe they can have the cabin steward ask the first day when they ask what time they want their cabin cleaned.

But you still need a smart phone.  Flip phones will not cut it trying to access the QR codes.

Yes of course you still need a smart phone....I was just speaking to the fact that the change to using QR codes was likely not driving a significant number of people to buy the WiFi packages as John had stated that you don't need any type of package to use the QR codes.

I am guessing that Carnival probably deactivated many non-essential systems on the ship that weren't in use during the prolonged cruising stoppage. Once cruising resumed, these systems were reactivated and there may have been a few bugs to workout. I work in aviation and during the early part of the pandemic when no one was flying anywhere, many of our aircraft owners elected to do the same in order to manage costs. Wi-fi usage was always the first system to be deactivated during this time. Other owners took the downtime to upgrade systems as well. There are always some kinks to work out once things are back in use - and I'm sure Carnival tested these systems, but not to the extend of having 3000+ people onboard. Hard to replicate real world usage scenarios.

My bet is the people Will adjust depending in the crowd that books over time.
