Houst Posted July 21, 2021 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2021 I'm just wondering if anyone that has sailed since the restart has been able to use onboard credit in the casino? Slot machine or at the tables etc. Is there a charge to do this? What about when you're cashing out? Thanks 🙂
firefly333 Posted July 21, 2021 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2021 Onboard credits can be used for anything. Yes casino too or tips.
Rare basketballdad Posted July 21, 2021 #3 Share Posted July 21, 2021 I think a line in a movie said "bet it all on black" at the roulette wheel. Almost double or nothing, so why not?
sgttami Posted July 21, 2021 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2021 Yes, you can still use OBC in the casino
Houst Posted July 21, 2021 Author #5 Share Posted July 21, 2021 Ok Thanks, I wondered with all of this on board credit they might change it. Not sure what I would spend it on if I couldn't use it in the casino! 😁

OBC can be used for drinks, specialty dining, excursions, photos, gratuities and onboard shopping. Almost anything you charge to your S&S card except Carnival gift cards from Cherry On Top. NCTribeFan Posted July 22, 2021 #7 Share Posted July 22, 2021 Are we sure this is still the case? Isn't the OBC from cancelled cruises considered non-refundable and those cannot be used in the casino? Has anyone who has actually sailed since they've resumed chimed in? I typically only have the shareholder OBC and if I've booked a casino fare that includes an OBC, of course that can be used in the casino. But I have some sailing booked that have casino OBC, the OBC from cancellations, AND some OBC I purchased when it was "on sale" way back. And that's before applying for my SH OBC! I may be thinking off HAL where I've read that NR OBC cannot be used in the casino. Not a biggie with them since their cancellations offered more FCC (fare x 125 or 150%) but considerably less OBC. I've read 6 other posts telling me I could spend my obc on carnival gift cards at cherry on top. Do you know from experience or just what john said which often isnt reality.. I'd like to know before I go as I planned on maybe doing this.

The $600 or $300 OBC isn't allowed for gift cards per the posts from the guests who have sailed the first sailing. I am going to make an assumption that other OBC will be allowed as it has in the past
jperry2011 Posted July 22, 2021 #11 Share Posted July 22, 2021 How about the casino funplay money? Last I remember I went to the desk and they handed me cash for my funplay amount.

Almost double or nothing, so why not? Don't laugh. On a number of occasions I have done that, or similar, with free play. Get it all in chips and go to a roulette table and choose either black or red, AND NEVER CHANGE. (odds are same anyway). You bet the minimum and just keep spinning and converting. It's (roughly if you add in the 0, blah, blah) a 50/50 chance, and if you win, your wager stays up, and can keep staying up as long as you win. Worst I've done is convert 50% Best I've done is convert it +150% This is best way to convert FP to $ Slow and boring, but works I'm a HL slot player. They have slowly moved away from giving Casino Funplay money as cash and while I can't say for certain I would bet with the restart it will be 100% gambling credit. It was that way in 2019. They even started doing that on Ultra cruises for the big prize giveaway. Previously for your big prize if you happen to choose the Big CASH Wheel you got actual Cash. That changed in 2019 When the CASH Wheel wasn't actual cash but Funplay credits.

NCTribeFan Posted July 22, 2021 #17 Share Posted July 22, 2021 Yes. That's how it was prior to Covid. I had FunPlay and opted to have it put on my card (you can get special chips for the tables). When you put your card in to play, it takes the funds from the FunPlay bank until it's used. Of course, it's been almost 2 years and my memory is not the greatest these days, but that's how I remember it. My TA, who was just on the first Horizon B2B said people were buying gift cards at Cherry on Top with their remaining OBC. Of course, we know that cruiselines have a tendency to NOT be consistent with anything! What one person can or can't do doesn't necessarily mean the same thing will happen to the next person. Makes it a little difficult to plan or understand what's allowed or not.

When cruising stopped last year some were still doing cash for Funplay, however the hosts told me that they are converting all ships to do Funplay/Funchips only. Who knows after that long what they are doing.

kdr69 Posted July 22, 2021 #22 Share Posted July 22, 2021 I sit at a table and ask for 100 dollars on my sail and sign, get 100 dollars and play, i win i take my chips to cage and cash in, i get cash, never been asked if it was OBC i started with before??? If i lose its a 100 dollar charge on my sail and sign which will be deducted from my OBC before my total balance owed is presented to me. Or am i missing something here?

That's how it was, with a 3% fee for table games. Many times I would go to the slots to charge my account to avoid the 3% fee. go to slots, get $100 on player's card, cash it out and set up at the craps table with it. It was posted by a guest on the restart cruises that they were unable to use their OBC to purchase gift cards, that it would indeed be charged from their S&S card to their credit card. Sounds like Carnival has tweaked their system to close the loopholes of converting OBC to gift cards and cash. I have not seen any mention yet if anyone had any success "cashing out" OBC in the casino by downloading it to the slots with their S&S card and going to the cashiers cage after minimal play. Seems this would still work but, as far as gift cards, that is one item that would be easily identified and disallowed if that is indeed their new policy. NCTribeFan Posted July 22, 2021 #25 Share Posted July 22, 2021 I probably wouldn't want to load it to a slot then cash out. I just want to be able to actually use it in the casino at all! That's what I'm reading (I think on the HAL board) you can't do because it's considered a non-refundable OBC. I may have to buy Cheers with mine if I can't spend it in the casino. I'll ask my TA if she knows. She's a gambler.
