Yay, we have people on the ship for this! Please post everything you can..  🙂

YES PLEASE!  I assume “test sailings” can be slightly different than “paying passenger” sailings in terms of what is available, etc but there has been so little info regarding these Seattle sailings.  I am booked for 8/20 and would love any info you can give.

Who else is onboard?

Hey let us know who the captains and cruise director are on board.

also any gossip about what is planned once paying passengers open up too.

Should be interesting if Ovation docks at the new Ketchikan terminal and couple of miles north of the city.  try to let us.

Dan Whitney is the CD.

As for the Capt. Henrik Loy started his rotation 4-24-21.  Normally they are on for 10 weeks. Capt Sverre Ryan  has  been listed as the alternating  Captain

We will be on the test Sailing.

According to post #670 on the Current Captains thread, Captain Ryan did start his rotation as captain of the Ovation of the Seas on July 3rd:

I understand a few guests “will be designated” as “unvaccinated” and handled as such by the crew.  Probably also means limiting where they can go on the ship.  Sure don’t want to volunteer for that!!!

That is true.  No access to casino, Solarium, balcony only in theater and no mytime dinning.

.I would rather not be chosen for that.

Haven’t cruised Seattle is years.  Without cruise line transfers, what have you all found as the best roundtrip transportation from SeaTac to Pier 91?  TIA!

Will the test cruise be following any of the route that the revenue cruises will be taking.  Trying to figure out if port or starboard balcony would be better....

Likely. No real diff - your enjoyment of an Alaskan sailing is much more dependent on weather, which you can't really predict, than side of the ship.

Also on the cruise. I took the Light Rail in to Seattle yesterday. Can't beat $3 vs Lyft/Uber/Taxi.

It wasn't anywhere on the documentation, and calling Royal received no answer. However, called the Port and the Ovation will be at Pier 91. Nice to know....

I am willing to play any role they want. Including spending five glorious days in my balcony with room service (note, my home is crowded with people. This is my vacation...

I spoke to some of the RC staff and it sounds like they were the ones who got designated as non-vaccinated but they were pretty chipper anyway on account of getting PTO to go on a free cruise.

Everyone here is so cheerful today I think everyone will have fun

It was listed in the Guest contract documentation - Pier 91, the  address and directions from the airport.  I believe it was on the last few pages, just prior to or after the luggage tags.

Of course we didn't receive that until 1-2 days prior to our sail date.
