How do you give an tip using OBC to staff that does not directly serve you?

So obviously you can tip and extra tip your cabin steward, wait staff, etc. with obc ... but suppose I see some worker at the buffet, or helping at the ropes course, or even at the pursers desk..how would I give them a tip using on board credit?  I have so much obc I just want to give it to the workers.  Any advice how?

Just a guess, but I'd ask at the Guest Services desk; assuming you know the crew member's correct, full name.

I think in general, tips are pooled and split. I'm not sure you could specify an individual. If you launder through the casino you could end up with some cash to hand out. Maybe.

Here’s what I’ve done before. I went to the casino & added some $ to my cruise card & then cashed it out. I did play at the machine a little. No questions asked & I had some extra cash.

I think the poster wants to give specific individuals a bigger, personal tip, but instead of just handing over cash like you might normally do spur of the moment, wants to use his/her OBC for that specific bonus tip.

 

Honestly, you'd need to get the crew member's exact name and department, and even then you may need to see a photo to be sure.  Guest Services is the only way I can see that happening.

They are not suppose to make it down to those folks.  They are not in the gratuities pay area at all.  They get paid totally differently.  Select service industry positions onboard receive gratuities.
